Meeting was called to order by Mayor Rundquist, the roll was called and Commissioners Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 7, 1967, were read and approved. Bids were received on Job 481 for the resurfacing of streets. Brown and Brown, Inc. $68,457.60 Hall Brothers Construction Box 166, Marysville, Ks. 70,943.20 Broce and Smith Contractors Box 9, Larned, Kansas 76,186.40 Engineer's Estimate 74,821.40 i On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Yost, the bid was awarded to Brown and Brown, Inc. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Yost, a contract ordinance for Job 481 was introduced for first reading. Ordinance Passed: Number: 7 co i A hearing was held on the Budget for 1968. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the Budget was approved as published. Carried. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark, an ordinance was introduced for first reading for the 19967 Tax Levy for 1968 Budget. Carried. Ordinance Passed: I (� 7 Number: On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Stark, an ordinance was introduced for first reading for the vacation of a portion of the north and south alley first east of Fifth Street.(Community Inn Location) Ordinance Passed: Zf4 ���o % Number: �Q® On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Yost, an ordinance was introduced for first reading for the vacation of the cul-de-sac in Spruce Street between Chicago Street and Clark Street in Holiday Addition. Ordinance Passed: GCC<,� `�'� r y 6 % Number: ( C% ( C) An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of cutting weeds on certain lots and parts of lots and the parkways abutting thereon in the City of Salina, Kansas." On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 7006. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading August 7, 1967. On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to be received on August 28th, 1967, for Engineering Job 483, Schilling Water Main. Carried. On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Yost, an ordinance was introduced for first reading relating to JMob Action. Ordinance Passed: C -"� 71, ��/ lO -7 Number: An application to construct recessed parking at 1211 South Santa Fe was filed. On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the application was approved. Petition Number 2964 was filed for curb sidewalk on the east side of Marymount from Glen Avenue to the north line of Country Club Heights # 4. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the petition was denied and referred to the City Manager and City Engineer to work out location at regular setback. An application was filed by Clarence M. Smith, for renewal of Merchant Police ;License. On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the application was approved. !)84 Petition Number 2965 was filed by John Thomas and others in favor of the Northeast Industrial Park Urban Renewal Project. Mr. Hampton and Mr. Harbin were present with regard to extra rock work on Job 475 and the need for additional charges for this job. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the matter was tabled until the September 11th meeting. The matter of bees in the City Limits was brought up. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the City Attorney is to check into the subject with regard to an ordinance. I The City Manager made mention of the tree limb pick up from the recent storm and that the cost of extra labor and trucks would run approximately $10,550.00. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the following bills were approved: I Estimate Number G-3, B. J. Frick and Company j on Police Administration Building $50,951.49 Partial Estimate Number 3, A. W. Saum on Sidewalk Job 476 1,500.00 Repairing River Dam to Brown & Brown, 10,390.54 An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "AN ORDINANCE making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." (bills) On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was hada Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost.
