04-24-1967 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS' ROOM Salina, Kansas April 24, 1967 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 24, 1967. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Rundquist, the roll was called and Commissioners Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 17, 1967, were read and approved. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE ratifying and confirming a contract with Harbin Construction Company for the construction of certain improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending the issuance and sale of bonds." On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6977. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading April 17, 196. f The Mayor proclaimed the week of April 24th as Beta Sigma Phi Week. e The Mayor proclaimed the week of April 23rd as Salina Twin Week. Petition Number 2951 was filed by Mrs. Joseph, with the names of adjoining property i owners favoring her continuance of the beauty shop at 838 East Kirwin Avenue. This i petition is in addition to her petition Number 2945 appealing the decision of the Zoning i Board of Appeals. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the decision of the Zoning Board of Appeals is reversed, and Mrs. Joseph is allowed to I operate a beauty. Shop at that address. On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the application for Community Renewal Program was approved by the City Commission and the Mayor was authoriz d to sign. A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A RESOLUTION of the Board of I Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, approving the preparation of a Community Renewa Program for the City of Salina, Kansas, and the filing of an application for a Federal Grant! to assist in financing its preparation." l iOn a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the Resolution was approved as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (5). Nays; (0). Mayor approved the Resolution and it is numbered 2929. i Carried. The Mayor, with the approval of the City Commissioners, made the following appoirA me t C. Neal Anderson - reappointed to Library Board to April 30, 1971. Mrs. James Mize - reappointed to Library Board to April 30, 1971. A renewal application for the Treating of Trees and Shrubs License for 1967, was filed by Anti -Pest Exterminating Company, Manhattan, Kansas. On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Yost, the license application was approved. A renewal application for the Trimming of Trees and Shrubs License for 1967, was filed) by Kansas Landscape & Nursery , Salina, Kansas. On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Yost, the license application was approved. Cereal Malt Beverage License application was filed by Fred E. Coffman, Fred's Bait and Tackle, 418 North Broadway, On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the application was held over one week for checking. (Package Only) Cereal Malt Beverage License application was filed by Oscar Dale Martinson, North Streq1t Carry Out, 908 East North. On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissior.er Stark, the application was approved. (Package Only) An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "AN ORDINANCE making an appropriation) for the payment of certain claims." (payroll) On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the ordinance I was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (5).
