Meeting was called to order by Mayor Waddell, the roll was called and Commissioners Waddell, Casebeer, Exline, Rundquist, Stark, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 29, 1966 were read and approved. Bids were received on Asphalt Resurfacing Job 465. Otis; North Street from 9th to 12th). Brown and Brown, Inc. Sam Ore Construction Company Box 417, McPherson, Kansas Aubel Asphalt Company Hays, Kansas Engineer's Estimate (Santa Fe Avenue from Pacific to $35,563.00 35,991.50 42,235.00 37,612.50 On motion of Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Exline, the bid was awarded to Brown and Brown, Inc. Carried. Bids were received on Indian Rock Park Water Line - Job 473. Brown and Brown, Inc. Engineer's Estimate $ 9,488.00 On motion of Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Exline, the bid was awarded to Brown and Brown, Inc. Carried. City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications on Job 470, for the paving of Ellsworth Avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to Fourth Street; the paving of Montrose Street from South Stree to Morrison Avenue; the curbing, guttering and paving of Hamilton Avenue from Third Street to Fourth Street. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the plans and specifications were approved and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to be received September 19, 1966. Carried. A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A RESOLUTION directing and ordering a public hearing on the advisability of sidewalk improvements in certain districts and giving notice of such hearing." (South side of Claremont Drive from Queens Road to East line of Lot 20, Block 3, Claremont Heights Addition; West side of Front Street from Ash Street south 120 feet; South side of Franklin Street from Ninth Street West 102 ft; West side of Ninth Street, the south 50 feet of Lots 4 and 5) On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the Resolution was approved as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Waddell, Casebeer, Exline, Rundquist, Stark (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the Resolution and it is numbered 2899. Carried. Hearing to be held October 3, 1966. City Manager reported on petition number 2903, and recommended the installation of two street lights on Eastborough Road. On motion of Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissione Exline, the recommendation was accepted and the street lights were approved. City Manager reported on petition number 2904 for the vacation of easement in Lots 1 to 8, Block 11, Replat of Garden Homes Addition, subject to the existing utilities; and recommended that it be approved. On motion of Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist , the recommendation was accepted and the vacation of the easement was approved. On motion of Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist, an ordinance was introduced for first reading for the vacation of the easement in Lots 1 to 8, Block 11, Replat of Garden Homes Addition. ! Q Ordinance Passed: Number: Petition Number 29.05 was filed by Salina Building Company for the concrete paving of the alley first east of Chicago, from South Street to Spruce Street. On motion of Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Exline, the petition was referred to the City Manager. Carried. 1 1 1 Concrete Construction Bond was filed for Oscar M. Wilbur. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the bond was approved. City Engineer filed Partial Estimate Number 5 - Job 452 - Westport Exchange - Catherman Construction Company in the amount of $37,521.44. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the estimate was approved. City Engineer filed Partial Estimate Number 11 - Job 453 - Streets - 0. D. Wilmoth in the amount of $9,434.67: On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the estimate was approved. i City Engineer filed partial estimate Number 6 - Job 458 - Westinghouse Sewer and Water 0. D. Wilmoth, in the amount of $11,025.75. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the estimate was approved. I City Engineer filed partial estimate Number 2 - Job 460 - Brown and Brown, Inc., -Streets in the amount of $31,176.00. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner iStark, the estimate was approved. City Engineer filed partial estimate Number 10 - Job 450 - Construction Industries - in the amount of $6,782.58. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner jStark, the estimate was approved.
