11-15-1965 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING I COMMISSIONERS ROOM Salina, Kansas November 15, 1965 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners November 15,-1965. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stark, the roll was called and Commissioners Stark, Casebeer, Rundquist, Waddell, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. Commissioner Exline absen . The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 8, 1965 were read and approved. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE relating to posting, distributing and circulating hand bills, circulars, posters, cards, leaflets, pamphlets, booklets, and other advertising matter." On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Stark, Casebeer, Rundquist, Waddell (4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Exline absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6891. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading November 8, 1965. A report was received from the City Manager on Petitions 2860 and 2861 for street lights at the corner of Highland and Parkway, and in the 1900 Block of Dover Drive. City Manager recommended the lights be installed. On motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the street lights were approved for installation. Carried. A request was received from Okmar Oil Company for a right-of-way to run a salt water line across City owned land fill property. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer the request was approved and referred to the City Manager to have the necessary legal description and Map drawn up as to the location of the line. Carried. Communication was received from the Building Inspector relating to petition number 2854 which was a rezoning request filed by Mrs. Alice Barnes. Planning Commission recommended denial of the request. City Commission accepted the recommendation and denied the request on October 25, 1965. City Manager reviewed the matter with the City Commission, no further action on the part of -the City Commission. Electricians Bond was received from Ernest J. Garren. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer the bond was approved. Carried. Mayor brought up•regarding Fireworks and stated it would be discussed at the next meeting. City Attorney received letter from the Santa Fe Railroad that their crossings on Santa Fe and Ninth St. had been repaired. On motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer that the letter be answered extending the thanks of the City Commission for their cooperation. Carried. A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution authorizing the Quitc of certain land to Union Pacific Railroad Company." On motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer the resolution was approved as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Stark, Casebeer, Rundquist, Waddell. (4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Exline absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 2849. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist, the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for Bids on Sewer Cleaning Equipment for November 29, 1965. Carried. r < er.. Peterson, City Clerk "v A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled: A Resolution authorizing and providing for the issuance of Temporary Notes of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $116,847.95, to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the City of Salin Kansas, to be designated as Series PT -75 pending the issuance of bonds to pay the cost of said work," On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer the resolution was approved as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Stark, Casebeer, Rundquist, Waddell, (4).
