08-16-1965 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, Salina, Kansas August 16, 1965 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 16, 1965. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stark, the roll was called and Commissioners Stark, Casebeer, Rundquist, Wadde 1, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 9, 1965 were read and approved. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An Ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes by the City of Salina, Kansas, for the year 1966 " On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Stark, Casebeer, Rundquist, Waddell. (4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Exline absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6874. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading August 9, 1965. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An Ordinance prescribing storage regulations for junk located within the City of Salina, Kansas; amending 16-508 of The Code of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1960, and repealing the said original section." On motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Stark, Casebeer, Rundquist, Waddell -(4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Exline absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6873. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading August 9, 1965. City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications on Job 453 (curb, gutter, paving of certain Streets) as required by Ordinance 6866. On motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Rundcuist the Plans and Specifications were approved and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to be let August 23, 1965. Carried. City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications on Job 457 for sidewalks, as required by Ordinance 6869. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell the Plans and Specifications were approved and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to be let August 23, 1965. Carried. City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications on Lateral Sewer 501, as required by Ordinance 6868. On motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the Plans and Specifications were accepted and approved. Carried. Petition Number -Z&O was filed by Garden Home, Inc. for the vacating of alley between blocks 1 and 2 of the replat of Lots 1 to 15 of Garden Home Addition, with the City to retain easements. On motion of Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the petition was referred to the City Manager to be checked. Carried. City Engineer filed partial Estimate Number 5 - Job 450 - Construction Industries - in the amount of $5,806.24. On motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the estimate was approved. Carried. Concrete Construction Bond was received from Hardesty and Peterson. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer the bond was approved. Carried. Mayor reappointed James H. Cleary to Building Board of Appeals for 5 year term from August 17, 1965. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer the appointment was approved. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist to approve property for sale (# 25 and # 27 A on List -one near the north boundary of cemetery and the other on Clark Street) subject to City Attorney checking legal requirements. Carried. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Stark, Casebeer, Rundquist, Waddell (4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Exline absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-1288. Carried. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
