05-10-1965 Minutes1.69 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM Salina, Kansas May 10, 1965 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commistioners May 10, 1965. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stark, the roll was called and Commissioners Stark, Casebeer, Rundquist, Waddell, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. Commissioner Exline,absent.' The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 3, 1965 were read and approved. Bids were received on two Police Cars; Marshall Motor Co. $1,976.48 Bell Motor Co. 1,995.00 Long McArthur Inc. 2,288.00 Jim Sullivan Chevrolet 2,551.78 Sid Bacon Motor 21637.76 On motion by Commissioner Casebeer, Seconded by Commissioner Rundquist bid was awarded to Marshall Motor Co. Carried. Consideration of Petition Number 2807 for sidewalks on Lots 2, 3 and 4 in Block 41 Southfield Addition on Roach Street. Motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer that sidewalks be installed. Carried. Consideration of Petition Number 2830 for sidewalks on Cloud Street between Rush St. and Hageman School on the North Side of Street. Motion by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell that sidewalks be installed. Carried. yam; Final Estimate filed on Civil Defense Warning Point installation at Fire Station in the amount of $1,263.50 due Merriman & Hoeffner Electric Co. Motion by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer that final estimate :be approved. carried. t Motion by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell that gas fitters bond be approved for Jayhawk Service. Carried. Motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist that the following ;cereal malt beverage licenses be approved; Salina Labor Building Association Inc. 2055 So. Ohio James R. Pipkin 540 Willis Motion carried. Final Estimate filed by City Engineer on Water Main Jbb. 451, in the amount of $15,596.12 due Catherman Construction Co. Motion by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer that final estimate be approved. Carried. Mayor made the following appointments; Glen VanCleef to Band Trustees for 3 year term from January 1, 1965 to take the place! of William W. Yost whose term expired. Reappointed to the Plumbers Examing Board for 1 year term, Robert A. Lange, Clifford Johnson, Master; Raymond Snead, Journeyman. Reappointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals for 3 year term, James Cleary and Raymond E. Haggart. City Manager reported on the following; Petition Number 2818 for paving of Second Street from Ash to Elm. 40% signers recommended six inch concrete paving. Motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, that since this is between paved streets the paving be approved and a Resolution be passed at the next meeting. Carried. Stated that he had checked into the walkway around the pond in Indian Rock Park and that a 3 ft. chain link could be installed at the most dangerous places for about $750.00. Thought maybe some Civic Club might buy the material the City could install it so matter was held over for one week. Nothing definite on All Star Lanes license, but would have copy of all licenses and the City Attorney would prepare brief regarding the law. Stated that the City through the Salina Insurance Board has come up with a new insurance coverage that will cut down on the number policies from 94 to about 8 or 10 and save about $4800.00 per year in premium and the City will have better coverage. No objection from the Commissioners. t o
