12-21-1964 Minutest2 SS COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM Salina, Kansas December 21, 1964 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners December 21, 1964. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Rundquist, the roll was called and Commissioners Rundquist, Bull, Spangler, Stark and City Attorney Bengtson responded. Commissioner Exline absent. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 14, 1964,were read and approved. G� Bids were received on Truck for Cemetery. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded 611) by Commissioner Spangler, the bid was awarded to Long -McArthur, Inc. as low bidder, if the truck meets the specifications, in the amount of $2,194.69. Carried. Bids were received on Trucks for the Water and Sewage Department. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the bids were awarded to Harmon and Gregg for the 3/4 ton truck in the amount of $2,063.00 and to Long -McArthur, Inc. for the j 1/2 ton Truck in the amount of $2,288.50, if the trucks meet the specifications. Carried. i Bids were received on 1 three wheel Servi-Cycle for the Police Department. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the bid was awarded to Burgess Cycle Shop as low bidder, in the amount of $1,338.084 Carried. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Stark the hearing on Special Assessments on Job 430, North Ohio Street was extended one more week to December 28, 1964. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler an ordinance was introduced for second reading designating routes for operation of motor buses. Carried. Ordinance Passed: c b Number: (p 40 I An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 6613 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." r On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Stark the ordinance was f adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes; Rundquist, Bull, Spangler, Stark (4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Exline absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6838. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading December 7, 1964. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled" An ordinance providing for the location of sidewalks within the corporate limits of the City of Salina, Kansas; amending Section 26-1107 of the Code of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1960, and repealing said original section." On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Stark the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist,; Bull, Spangler, Stark (4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Exline absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6839. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading jDecember 14, 1964. A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled" A Resolution authorizing and ordering] certain sewer and water mains and hydrant improvements, ordering preparation of plans and specifications, and the estimate of costs." On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the resolution was approved as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Bull, Spangler, Stark I (4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Exline absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 2808. Carried. A letter was received from the City Planning Commission regarding Petition Number 2809 filed by Vance Weeks recommending the approval of the rezoning of Lot 4, except the west 24 feet, Lot 6 and Lot 5, except the west 133 feet, Block 1, Replat of Beebe's Second Addition to District "D". On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the recommendation was accepted and the City Clerk was instructed to publish Notice of Hearing. Carried. A letter was received from the City Planning Commission regarding Petition Number 280 filed by Robert B. Berkley recommending the approval of the rezoning described in the petition. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Bull the recommendation was accepted and the City Clerk was instructed to publish Notice of Hearing. Carried. i i A letter was received regarding poles of D. S. & 0 Rural Electric Cooperative Assoc. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Bull the letter was approved. Carried. r Beer License application for 1965 was filed by Lloyd William Holmgren at 1204 South Santa Fe Avenue. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Stark the application was approved. Carried. t"Y) Beer License Application for 1965 was filed by Jim Reed Thomas at 502 North Third. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Stark the application was approve Carried. i City Engineer filed Final Estimate - Job 446 - Brown and Brown, Inc. - Street Improvements - in the amount of $16,612.73. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the estimate was approved. Carried. The Mayor appointed Clifford Johnson to Plumbers Examining Board to replace Del Robertson, deceased. Term to May 1, 1965. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the appointment was approved. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Stark agreement with Insurance Companies on Truck and Airplane Accident at the Airport for settlement of approximately $14,000.00 with Cen-Kan was approved. Carried. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriations for the payment of cettain claims." On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Stark the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Bull, Spangler, Stark (4).
