07-13-1964 Minutes78 Q 8 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM Salina, Kansas July 13, 1964 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 13, 1964. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Rundquist, the roll was called and Commissioners Rundquist, Bull, Spangler, and Stark, and City Attorney Bengtson responded, Commissioner Exline absent. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 6, 1964 were read and approved. A motion was made by Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler to authorize the City Clerk to fret advertise for bids on Sewer Job 448 for Monday July 20, 196 . Carried. City Engineer filed a feasibility report on Sanitary Sewer Main and Water Main and hydrants on North Ninth Street, Euclid to Culver Road, Job 450. Total approximate cost $233,223.32; Property owners $222,081.52, City $11,141.80. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Bull the feasibility report was accepted. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying special assessments on certain lots in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of the demolition of three buildings, the same being more particularly described herein, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the Ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Bull, Spangler, Stark, (4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Exline absent. Acting Mayor Rundquist approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6800. Carried, Ordinance was introduced for first reading July 6, 1964. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler, an ordinance was introduced for first reading granting Donald L. Tucker a franchise for motor buses. Carried. Ordinance Passed: Number: So 3 Letter Number 1 was received from the City Planning Commission regarding Petition Number 2768 filed by Parkview Realty Company for the rezoning of Lot 41, Block 5, Sunset Manor Addition to "DD". City Planning Commission recommended the rezoning be denied. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Bull the recommendation was acdepted and the petition was denied. Carried. i Letter Number 2 was received from the City Planning Commission regarding Petition Number 2761 filed by S. H. Sampson for the rezoning of Lots 1 to 9,' 11, 13, and 15, Block 7, Shalimar Plaza Addition to District "DD". City Planning Commission recommended the rezoning and also recommended the rezoning of Lot 17, Block 7, Shalimar Plaza Addition to District "DD". On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the recommendation was accepted and the City Clerk was instructed to publish Notice of Hearing. Carried Letter Number 3 was received from the City Planning Commission regarding Petition Number 2766 for the change of Mohawk to Windsor Drive, Seminole to Vassar Drive and Shawnee to Plaza Drive. City Planning Commission recommended the request be approved. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the petition will be held until a report is received on Petition Number 2770. Carried. Petition Number 2770 was filed by 28 people living on Pawnee Avenue, requesting the name of Pawnee Avenue in Likins Foster Addition be changed to Likins Avenue. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the petition was referred to the City Planning Commission. Carried. City Engineer filed Final Estimate on Job 440 and 442. Meadowlark Acres and Neal Avenue - Brown and Brown, Inc. - in the amount of $13,746.73. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Bull, the estimate was approved. Carried. The City Manager informed the Commission that the Zoning Board of Appeals is willing to serve as Building Board of Appeals. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Bull it was referred to the City Attorney for proper ordinance. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Spangler that the Taxi Cab Insurance for liability be 50,000.00;100,000.00 and 10,000.00 coverage. Carried. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist Bull, Spangler, Stark (4). Nays: (0). Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-1230. Carried.
