01-20-1964 Minutest4l 4 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM Salina, Kansas January 20, 1964 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 20, 1964. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Spangler, the roll was called and Commissioners Spangler, Exline, Tucker and Rundquist and City Attorney Bengtson responded. Commissioner Bull absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 13, 1964 were read and approved. Bids were received on the car for the Fire Department. On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Exline the bid was awarded to Long -McArthur, Inc. in the amount of $1,988.00. Carried. Petition number 2731 was checked for the paving of 700 Block North Second Street. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the resolution was introduced for first reading. Carried. Resolution Passed: C'h t 1'� Number v An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 6613 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain gproperty within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof:" On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangler, Exline, Rundquist and Tucker (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6765. Carried. Ordinance introduced for first reading January 13, 1964. On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the four applications for trimming of trees and shrubs were approved. Carried. Petition number 2736 was filed for the rezoning of Lot 102 on 7th Street Original Townsite. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the petition was referred to the City Planning Commission. Carried. Cereal Malt Beverage application was filed by Jimmie G. Mar d/b/a Mars Restaurant 712 S. Broadway. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Exline the application was approved. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Exline the City Commission went on record as being in favor of the 1 2� gasoline tax as propose"$ by the Kansas Official Joint Committee on Highways, Roads and Streets. Carried.; e4 The City Attorney presented a tentative ordinance regarding regulating all organizations soliciting money in the City of Salina. The Commissioners decided to study the ordinance. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangler, Exline, Rundquist and Tucker (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-1207. Carried. ***** On motion of Commissioner Exline the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk *****A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A resolution authorizing and providing for the issuance of Temporary Notes of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $106,903.55, to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the City of Salina to be designated as Series PT -68 pending the issuance of bonds to pay the cost of said work." On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the resolution was approved as read and the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangler, Exline, Tucker and Rundquist (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2763. Carried. J 1 A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A resolution authorizing and providing for the issuance of Temporary Notes of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $45,039.96, to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the City of Salina to be designated as Series PT -69 pending the issuance of bonds to pay to the cost of said work." On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the resolution was approved as read and the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangler, Exline, Tucker and Rundquist (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2764. Carried. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A resolution recommending the adoption of the proposed one and one-half (11-2�) motor fuel tax increase by the 1964 session of the Kansas legislature." On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Exline the resolution was approved as read and the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangler, Exline and Rundquist (3) Nays: Tucker (1) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 2765. Carried. J 1
