COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING
COMMISSIONERS ROOM

January 6, 1964
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 6, 1964. Meeting was called
to order by Mayor Spangler, the roll was called and Commissioners Spangler, Bull, Exline,
Rundquist and Tucker and City Attorney Bengtson responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 30, 1963 weTe read and approved.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing
for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 6613 and the Zoning District Map therein
and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City
and prescribing the proper uses thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the ordinance
was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes:
Spangler, Bull, Exline, Rundquist and Tucker (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered 6757. Carried. Ordinance introduced for first reading 12-30-63.
Twenty days notice up on the rezoning of Lots 122, 124,126,128, 130, 134, 136,
138 Original Townsite on Third Street to District "F".
No protests written or oral were filed.
On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the rezoning
ordinance was introduced for first reading. Carried.
Ordinance Passed: �l 6 Number
Letter was received from the City Planning regarding the request of the Missouri
Pacific Railroad to locate an anhydrous amonia tank on their property north of North
Street and West of Ohio Street.
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the letter was
approved. Carried.
Letter was received from the City Planning Commission regarding petition 2683
for the rezoning of E. 112.5 feet of Lots 40 & 42 & all Lot 38, Block 3 Van Trines.
Add. from District "C" to District "D".
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the letter was
approved and the City Clerk was instructed to publish notice. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker an ordinance was
introduced for first reading for longevity pay for City Employees. Carried.

On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline an ordinance was
introduced for first reading for three week vacation for city employees employed over
15 years. Carried.

City Engineer filed estimate number 3 on Job 430 - Construction Industries - in
the amount of $12,187.83.
On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate was
approved. Carried.
City Engineer filed estimate number 4 on Job 440 - Brown & Brown - in the amount
of $7,300.62.
On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the estimate
was approved. Carried.
City Engineer filed estimate number 4 on Job 435 - Brown & Brown - in the amount
of $2,417.03.
On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate was
approved. Carried.
City Engineer filed estimate number 2 on Job 438 - Brown & Brown - in the amount
of $12,677.00.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the estimate
was approved. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the Plumbers
and Gas Fitters Bond filed by Merl E. Graham was approved. Carried.

Cereal Malt Beverage application was filed by D. W. ARcher d/b/a One Spot Lounge
768 N. Broadway. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the
application was approved. Carried.
Cereal Malt Beverage application was filed by Boyd Hatfield d/b/a "The Office"
1409 W. Crawford. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull
the application was approved. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Bull a salary increase
for the Police and Fire Departments was approved. Carried.
Petition was filed in protests of the trading stamps. On motion of Commissioner
Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Exline an ordinance was introduced for first reading
prohibiting the use of trading stamps in Salina. Carried.

An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the ordinance
was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes:
Spangler, Bull, Exline, Rundquist and Tucker (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered A-1203. Carried.
