In considering the Cereal Malt Beverage License Application for Taco Pete,
1416 South Santa Fe Avenue, filed by Ronald P. Thompson, it was suggested by the
Commission not to grant the license now, but if permission is given by the Church and
i
Kansas Wesleyan University, they would reconsider the petition.
Mr. Thompson said he talked with the Deputy Building Official, who did not
think there would be any problem with the issuance of the license, because there have
been other licenses issued to businesses within 200 feet of residences.
1
The Commission told Mr. Thompson he is within 200 feet of a church and/or
college, which Mr. Thompson realizes.
Commissioner Losik told Mr. Thompson, if he obtains a letter from the church
and college stating they have no objections to the business selling beer, the Commission
would reconsider the application.
The City Manager stated he knows of no beer tavern within 200 feet of a
church or school. Since he has been here, there have been a couple of instances where an
applicant wanted to sell beer within 200 feet of a church or school, but they were turned
down by the City Commission.
}
Mr. Thompson stated beer is being sold at two State Universities, and he feels
i
he should be allowed to sell beer.
