Commissioners' Meeting
July 14, 1969
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commissioners' Room,
ity Hall, on Monday, July 14, 1969, at four o'clock p.m.
There were present:

Commissioner Leon L. Ashton

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 7, 1969, were approved as mailed.
The Mayor proclaimed the week of July 14 - 21, 1969 "DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS WEEK"
The Mayor proclaimed July 16, 1969 - "A special day set apart observing and
elebrating 50 years of public service of the Business and Professional Women, with nearly
100 members here in Salina."
John Ryberg, spokesman for the Salina Community Theater asked the Commissioners
consider accepting ownership, operation and maintenance of a building, to be used for
theater, if constructed by their organization. Mr. Ryberg was advised the matter would
researched by the City Attorney and a decision reached as soon as possible.
The Mayor, with the approval of the City Commissioners, appointed Charles Stark
o the Urban Renewal Agency Board, to succeed Paul Renich, for a 4 year term to April 12,
1973.
Bob Collins, representing the Heart of America Lions Club, announced they were
Iling car tags promoting Salina, City on the Move.
Commissioner Rundquist directed the City Manager to check into killing the grass
nd weeds growing in the cracks in the sidewalks in the downtown area, by the use of soil
terilants.
Petition Number 3052 was filed by Foster McBride, 421 West Euclid, for the
ezoning of Lot 1, and the West z of Lot 2, Block 1, Tucker Park Addition, to District "F"
Light Industrial District). A motion was made by Commissioner Yost, seconded by
ommissioner Caldwell to refer the petition to the Salina City Planning Commission.

A letter was received from the Building Code Advisory Board, recommending 2
changes in the Minimum Housing Code: (1) in lieu of Division 2 "Board of Appeals" provide
or a Hearing Officer constituting an Administrative Hearing. (2). Section 16-25, the
Building Official shall be responsible for determining the cost of repairs, alterations, or
improvements :-nd shall notify the owner of this determination. A motion was made by
ommissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to refer the recommendations to the
egal Department for drafting of the proper ordinances, and take it under advisement.

A letter was received from the Salina YMCA requesting change in "On Street"
parking along the south side of Iron between 8th and 9th and proposal of "Off Street"
parking on the old library building lot. A motion was made by Commissioner Caldwell,
seconded by Commissioner Yost to refer the request to the Engineering Department and
Planning Commission for a report. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
City Engineer filed Final Estimate on Job 503 Painting of 1,000,OOO.gallon water
tank - Don Carter Paint, Inc. in the amount of $2,555.50. A motion was made by Commissioner
Yost, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to approve the estimate. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0).
Motion carried.
On a motion by Commissioner Yost, the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
