Mrs. June Garrett, Welfare Department, was present complaining about the parking)
problems that her nine social workers are having. The County Commissioners provide them
with Parking Permits to allow them to park at meters with orange and green posts. The
problem is when the social workers leave during the day, and return, they are unable to
find meters with orange and green posts. She was wanting permission to park at 2 hour
meters or have the parking tickets "fixed". The City Attorney advised the City Commissioners
there was no way they could allow either, without showing preferential treatment.
Dr. Theron Chastain was present and filed a Resolution passed by the Enablers
of Salina urging the City Commissioners to adopt a program to clean up and maintain public;
grounds in the City and urges the hiring of young people between the ages of 14 and 22.
He asked the City Commissioners to have a proclamation establishing Clean up time. Mayor
Millikan asked the Enablers of Salina to prepare the proclamation to get the project
started. A motion was made by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Caldwell to
immediately take steps for the City Manager to hire "Boy Power" to paint and clean up
Memorial Stadium. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 26, 1969, were approved as mailed.
Sgt. Herb Clark, Salina Police Department was present asking the Mayor to
sign a proclamation designating June 7 and June 14 as Vehicle Safety Days. On June 7th,
the safety check will be in Gibson's Parking Lot from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and on June 14th,
the safety check will be in Welles' Parking Lot from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within
the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." (Lots 5-10, Hazelwood Addition, from
District "B" to District "DD", requested in Petition Number 3034 filed by F. S. and
Margaret Dumler on February 13, 1969). A Motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist,
seconded by Commissioner Ashton to adopt the ordinance as read and the following vote
was had: Ayes: Millikan, Ashton, Caldwell, Rundquist, Yost (5). Nays: (0). Mayor

Mr. James McKinney was present asking the City Commissioners if they had made
their decision for a red light on his emergency vehicle. The City Commissioners suggested
this be discussed by the Ambulance Board at their next meeting. They told Mr. McKinney
that he could be present if he desired. I

Melvin Thelander filed Resolution Number 514 of the Board of County Commissioner,
organizing and establishing Fire District Number 4.
Petition Number 3048 was filed by First National Bank & Trust Company for the
rezoning of Lots 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, except the South 16.56 feet thereof, of Block 4,
all in the Replat of a part of Block 3, and all of Blocks 4 and 5, Schippel Addition; and
all of that part of Lots 3 and 11, Block 6, of said Replat lying more than 180 feet south j
of the south line of Schippel Drive. from District "A" to District "D". A motion was
made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Yost to refer the petition to
the Salina City Planning Commission. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
Petition Number 3049 was filed by C. L. Clark for the approval of the proposed E
plat of Interstate District South of 1-70, an addition to the City of Salina, Kansas. A
Motion was made by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Caldwell to refer the
petition to the Salina City Planning Commission. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
A motion was made by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist to
introduce an ordinance for first reading for the annexation of the North 1/2 of the I
Northeast Quarter of Section 36, Township 14 South, Range 3 West of the 6th P.M. (New
High School Site) with special emphasis on drainage to the river. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0) j

New High School Site. A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by
Commissioner Ashton to accept the Feasibility Report as filed by the City Engineer. i

A request was received from Western Construction, Inc. (Jerry Abbott, President)P
for extension of the completion date for Job 504 to June 25, 1969. A motion was made by
Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist to allow the extension to June 25th
as the absolute deadline and to envoke the penalty after this date, regardless of weather i
or any other conditions. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.

The Mayor, with the approval of the City Commissioners, made the following
appointments to the Salina City Planning Commission:
Lee Haworth appointed to succeed D. A. Norris for a 3 year term to 5/1/1972
Frank Langshaw appointed to succeed Gilbert Wneger for a 3 year term
to 5/1/1972
City Engineer filed Partial Estimate # 5 on Job 504 for Broadway Water Main, I
Western Construction, Inc. in the amount of $8,254.23. A motion was made by Commissioner
Yost, seconded by Commissioner Caldwell to approve the estimate. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0).

A statement was presented by Bucher & Willis, dated May 23, 1969, for
professional services on the Police Administration Building Defeciencies, in the amount
of $2,078.00. A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner
Ashton to approve the Statement. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
A statement was presented by Lee Haworth Construction Company, Inc. for the
repair of roof leaks on the Police Administration Building in the amount of $87.30. A i
motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to approve
the Statement. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.

City Engineer filed Final Estimate on Job 500 for Ash Street Sewer Separations,
Brown & Brown, Inc. in the amount of $5,000.00. A motion was made by Commissioner
Caldwell, seconded by Commissioner Yost to approve the Estimate. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0).

City Engineer filed Estimate # 2 by Merriman & Hoeffner, Inc. for Variable
Speed Drive Systems for Sewage Pump Station in the amount of $4,132.63. A motion was
made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to approve the estimate.

On a motion by Commissioner Ashton, the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
