Commissioners' Meeting
April 28, 1969
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commissioners' Room,
call, on Monday, April 28, 1969, at four o'clock p.m.
There were present:

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 21, 1969, were approved as mailed.

The Mayor proclaimed the Month of May - "MENTAL HEALTH MONTH".

The Mayor proclaimed the Month of May - "ABWA SCHOLARSHIP MONTH" for Sunflower
Chapter, Charter Chapter, & Vista Chapter of American Business Women's Association.
The Mayor proclaimed the week of May 4 - 11, 1969 - "NATIONAL MUSIC WEEK".
The Mayor proclaimed the week of May 4 - 10, 1969 - "EPSILON SIGMA ALPHA
INTERNATIONAL WEEK" for Alpha Beta, Delta Zeta, Omicron, & Zeta Lambda.
The City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for Lateral Sanitary Sewer 511,
for Block 5 of Schippel Addition. Engineering Job 508. (Requested in Petition 3041). A
motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Yost to accept the Plans
and Specifications as filed, and to instruct the City Clerk to advertise for bids to be
received on May 12, 1969. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
A motion was made by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Caldwell to
accept Petition Number 3042 and the affidavits relating to it. (Northeast Industrial Park)
and to refer it to the City Attorney for proper checking and a report to be made next week
to the City Commissioners. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
Don Tyson, Canary Motel; Lyle Schaffer, Log Cabin Motel; Bill Weis, Airliner Motel,
were present complaining about the "ticketing" of semi -trucks parked on the streets by their
motels, whose drivers are customers of theirs. They were wondering if the ordinance could
be amended or revised to allow semi -trucks to park near the motels. A motion was made by
Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Caldwell to refer the request to the City I
Attorney and the City Manager for a report next week. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
A letter was received from the Salina City Planning Commission recommending the
street commonly known as Edgevale Drive be changed to Faith Drive. A motion was made by
Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Yost to accept the recommendation of the
Salina City Planning Commission and introduce an ordinance for first reading. Ayes: (5).
Nays: (0). Motion carried.

Petition Number 3045 was filed by Elizabeth S. Johnson for the installation of a
street light to be located near the center of the 200 block on North Columbia. A motion
was made by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Caldwell to refer the petition to
the City Manager for checking. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
Petition Number 3046 was filed by Milton L. Morrison for the rezoning of property
at Woodland and Thirteenth Streets, from District "A" to District "F". A motion was made
by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to refer the petition to the
Salina City Planning Commission. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.

An application for a Driveway Permit at 1002 West Elm, for additional width, was
filed by Oscar M. Wilbur, Contractor. A motion was made by Commissioner Yost, seconded by
Commissioner Rundquist to approve the Driveway Permit. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion
carried.
The Commissioners considered increasing the swimming pool admission charges.
A motion was made by Commissioner Ashton, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist to set the
new rates at the swimming pools at: 12 and under - 25�; 13 and over - 50G. Ayes:
Millikan, Ashton, Rundquist, Yost (4). Nays: Caldwell (1). Motion carried.
A motion was made by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Caldwell to
introduce an ordinance for first reading regulating the removal, demolition and relocation
of structures. Ayes: (5)• Nays: (0). Motion carried.

Statement. Ayes: (5)• Nays: (0). Motion carried.
Statement # 2, dated April 23, 1969, for Ronald R. Richmond, Architect, for
Design Development Phase of Fire Station # 4, in the amount of $800.00. A motion was made
by Commissioner Caldwell, seconded by Commissioner Yost to approve the Statement. Ayes: (5)!

On a motion by Commissioner Rundquist, the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
