03-03-1969 Minutesa'� City of Salina, Kansas Commissioners' Meeting March 3, 1969 The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commissioners' Room, ;City Hall, on Monday, March 3, 1969, at four o'clock p.m. There were present: Mayor William W. Yost, Chairman presiding Commissioner Charles W. Casebeer Commissioner Donald D. Millikan Commissioner Carl R. Rundquist Commissioner G. N. Waddell comprising a quorum of the Board, also, L. 0. Bengtson, City Attorney Norris Olson, City Manager D. L. Harrison, City Clerk Absent: None. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 24, 1969, were approved as mailed. BIDS were received for Job 502 - Sidewalks on Cloud and Hageman Streets, near Hageman School: Oscar Wilbur Engineer's Estimate $2,286.00 2,250.00 The Bid was above the Engineer's Estimate. A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell to instruct the City Clerk to re -advertise for bids to be received on March 17, 1969. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried. Petition Number 3037 was filed by Phyllis J. Rowland for the encouragement of resuming the firing of the cannon at St. John's Military School to demonstrate that Salina is proud of the cadets and their daily show of patriotism. Phyllis J. Rowland, 1221 North 7th St. was present to explain the petition. She said they want St. John's Military School to know that not all the people living in the north part of the City were against the firing of the cannon. The City Commissioners accepted the petition and requested the City Manager to mail a copy of the petition to Col. Keith Duckers at St. John's Military School. A Statement of charges was filed by Bucker & Willis, for Architectural Services on the Police Administration Building from July 29, 1968 to November 6, 1968, in the amount of $2,549.00. A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Millikan to approve the Statement. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried. j City Engineer filed Partial Estimate # 3 for Job 467 for Installation of 3 Sanitary, Sewers - to Lucas Plumbing & Heating Company, in the amount of $3,354.43. A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Millikan to approve the estimate. Ayes: (0. Nays: (0). Motion carried. I City Engineer filed Partial Estimate # 5 for Job 500 - Ash Street Sewer Separations to Brown & Brown, Inc. in the amount of $70,003.80. A motion was made by Commissioner Waddelli, seconded by Commissioner Millikan to approve the estimate. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried. I City Engineer filed Partial Estimate # 2 for Job 504 - Water Main on Broadway Blvd. to Western Construction, Inc. in the amount of $10,818.26. A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Millikan to approve the estimate. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "AN ORDINANCE making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." (payroll) A motion was made by Commission4r Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Millikan to approve the ordinance as read and the following; vote was had: Ayes: Yost, Casebeer, Millikan, Rundquist, Waddell (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-1475. Carried. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "AN ORDINANCE making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." (bills) A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Millikan to approve the ordinance as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Yost, Casebeer, Millikan, Rundquist, Waddell (5).
