Commissioners' Meeting
May 30, 1972
The Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commissioners' Room,
City -County Building, on Tuesday, May 30, 1972, at 1:30 P.M. for the purpose of adopting
ordinances amending the Minimum Housing Code, Plumbing Code and Electrical Code, and to
introduce ordinances amending the Fire Prevention Code.
There were present:
Mayor Jack Weisgerber, Chairman presiding
Commissioner Leon L. Ashton
Commissioner Robert C. Caldwell
Commissioner Norma G. Cooper
Commissioner Mike Losik, Jr.
comprising a quorum of the Board, also:
L. 0. Bengtson, City Attorney
Norris D. Olson, City Manager
D. L. Harrison, City Clerk
Absent:
None
AN ORDINANCE was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
establishing minimum housing requirements; defining terms; prohibiting certain acts;
amending Chapter Sixteen of The Salina Code and repealing the existing chapter."
A motion was made by Commissioner Losik, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to adopt the
ordinance as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Ashton, Caldwell, Cooper, Losik,
Weisgerber (5). Nays: (0). Carried. The Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered
8209. The ordinance was introduced for first reading May 26, 1972.
AN ORDINANCE was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE repealing
Section 9-236 limiting the use of certain materials." A motion was made by Commissioner
Losik, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to adopt the ordinance as read and the following
vote was had: Ayes: Ashton, Caldwell, Cooper, Losik, Weisgerber (5). Nays: (0). Carried.
The Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 8210. The ordinance was introduced
for first reading May 26, 1972.
AN ORDINANCE was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE repealing
Sections 12-78, 12-79, 12-80, 12-81, 12-83, 12-84, 12-85, 12-86, 12-87, 12-88, 12-92, 12-93,
12-96, 12-97, 12-98, 12-99, 12-100, 12-101, 12-102, 12-103, 12-104, 12-105, 12-106, 12-107
12-108, 12-109, 12-110, 12-111, 12112, of Article V, of The Salina Salina Code, which
provide that certain sections of the Uniform Fire Prevention Code shall not be applicable
to the City of Salina." A motion was made by Commissioner Losik, seconded by Commissioner
Ashton to adopt the ordinance as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Ashton,
Caldwell, Cooper, Losik, Weisgerber (5). Nays: (0). Carried. The Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered 8211. The ordinance was introduced for first reading May 26,
1972,
AN ORDINANCE was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE specifying
the requirements for electrical service entrances to be installed within the City of Salina,
Kansas; amending Section 9-181 of The Salina Code and repealing the existing section."
A motion was made by Commissioner Losik, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to adopt the
ordinance as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Ashton, Caldwell, Cooper, Losik,
Weisgerber (5). Nays: (0). Carried. The Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered
8212. The ordinance was introduced for first reading May 26, 1972.
AN ORDINANCE was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE repealing
Section 9-182 of The Salina Code which pertains to underground wiring." A motion was made
by Commissioner Losik, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to adopt the ordinance as read and
the following vote was had: Ayes: Ashton, Caldwell, Cooper, Losik, Weisgerber (5).
Nays: (0). Carried, The Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 8213. The
ordinance was introduced for first reading May 26, 1972.

REQUEST FOR SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
We, the undersigned, being duly elected, qualified and acting City
Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, do hereby request a special
meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, to
be held on the 30th day of May, 1972, at 1:30 P.M., C.D.T., for the
purpose of:
Adopting an ordinance establishing Minimum Housing Requirements;
defining terms; prohibiting certain acts; provising certain procedures;
amending Chapter Sixteen of the Salina Code and repealing the existing
chapter.
Adopting an ordinance repealing Section 9-236 Limiting the use of
certain materials.
Adopting an ordinance repealing Sections 12-78, 12-79, 12-80, 12-81
12-83, 12-84, 12-85, 12-86, 12-87, 12-88, 12-92, 12-93, 12-96, 12-97,
12-98, 12-99, 12-100, 12-101, 12-102, 12-103, 12-104, 12-105, 12-106,
12-107, 12-108, 12-109, 12-110, 12-111, 12-112, of Article V of the
Salina Code which provide that certain sections of the Uniform Fire
Prevention bode not be applicable to the City of Salina.
Adopting an ordinance specifying the requirements for electrical
service entrances to be installed within the City of Salina, Kansas;
amending Section 9-181 of The Salina Code and repealing the existing
Section.
Adopting an ordinance repealing Section 9-182 of The Salina Code
which pertains to underground wiring.
Adopting an ordinance repealing Section 9-183 of The Salina Code which
pertains to overhead wiring.
Adopting an ordinance repealing Section 9-184 of The Salina Code which
pertains to low ceiling wires.
Adopting an ordinance repealing Section 9-185 of The Salina Code which
pertains to conduit or metal raceways.

pertains to use of armored cable.

Adopting an ordinance repealing Section 9-187 of The Salina Code which
pertains to bathroom lights, outlets and switches.
Adopting an ordinance repealing Section 9-188 of The Salina Code which
pertains to fixture supports.
Adopting an ordinance specifying written notices of violation issued by
the Building Inspection Department of the City of Salina, Kansas,
Adopting an ordinance adopting the 1970 -Edition of the Uniform Plumbing
Code, amending Section 9-200 of The Salina Code and repealing the
existing section.
