Commissioners' Meeting
January 24, 1972
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commissioners' Room,
City -County Building, on Monday, January 24, 1972, at seven o'clock p.m.
The Mayor asked everyone to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and a
Moment of Silent Prayer.
There were present:
Mayor Robert C. Caldwell, Chairman presiding
Commissioner Leon L. Ashton
Commissioner Norma G. Cooper
Commissioner Mike Losik, Jr.
Commissioner Jack Weisgerber
comprising a quorum of the Board, also:
L. 0. Bengtson, City Attorney
Norris D. Olson, City Manager
D. L. Harrison, City Clerk
Absent:
None
The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 17, 1972, were amended by
Commissioner Losik as follows:

A motion was made by Commissioner Losik, seconded by Commissioner Ashton that the
minutes be approved as corrected. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
STAFF AGENDA
1972 LICENSE APPLICATION FOR TREE AND SHRUB TRIMMING LICENSE was filed by
Walter Frederking, d/b/a King Lawn Service. (Renewal) A motion was made by Commissioner
Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Losik to approve the 1972 License application and authorize
the City Clerk to issue the license. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
1972 LICENSE APPLICATION FOR SURETY ON BAIL BOND LICENSE was filed by Ralph Bennett,
d/b/a B & K Bonding, 651 South Ohio. (Renewal) A motion was made by Commissioner Losik,
seconded by Commissioner Ashton to approve the license application and authorize the City
Clerk to issue the license. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
Commissioner Cooper asked the City Manager if he had checked with the Judge about
the bond schedule for Municipal Court.
The City Manager stated, "Yes". "The bond schedule includes court costs."
1972 LICENSE APPLICATION FOR SURETY ON BAIL BOND LICENSE was filed by
Jack Kindlesparger, agent for B & K Bonding, 651 South Ohio. (Renewal) A motion was made
by Commissioner Losik, seconded by Commissioner Weisgerber to approve the license application
and authorize the City Clerk to issue the license. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.

AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE was introduced and passed entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." (Payroll - $96,977.75)
A motion was made by Commissioner Weisgerber, seconded by Commissioner Ashton to adopt
the ordinance as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Ashton, Cooper, Losik,
Weisgerber, Caldwell (5). Nays: (0). Carried. The Mayor approved the ordinance and it
is numbered A-1614.

COMMISSION AGENDA
PUBLIC AGENDA
PETITION NUMBER 3222 was filed by First State Bank and Trust Company; James P. Miz(
C. L. Clark, Trustee under the C. L. Clark Revocable Trust as of record; Irene W. Clark;
Gladys C. Grant and First National Bank and Trust Company, protesting the installation of
a sanitary sewer and water main in Diamond Drive from U. S. 81 Highway west approximately
1,320 feet.
The City Attorney stated the petition should be referred to the City Clerk, who
will report to you at the end of the 20 day protest period.
A motion was made by Commissioner Ashton, seconded by Commissioner Losik to
refer the petition to the City Clerk for a report at the end of the protest period.
Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
PETITION NUMBER 3223 was filed by George H. Wallerius, Sr., for the denial of
the installation of water pipes and paving of street on Prospect Avenue from Ohio Street
to a point 5 feet west of the East line of Lot 10, Cloverdale Annex, as requested in
Petition Number 3191. A motion was made by Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner
Losik to refer the petition to the City Clerk for a report at the end of the
protest period. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried.
MISCELLANEOUS AGENDA
COMMISSIONER LOSIK mentioned that several items are pending which have been
referred to the staff to report back on a certain date, such as the Merchant Police
Ordinance which was referred to the City Attorney and was supposed to be on today's agenda.
The City Attorney said his secretary had been ill with the flu and was unable
to have the ordinance typed for this Monday's meeting, that it would be on the agenda next
week.
Commissioner Losik stated the subject still should have been on the agenda so
that we could inform the public of the status of it.
A motion was made by Commissioner Ashton, seconded by Commissioner Losik that
the Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners be adjourned. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0).
Motion carried.
