REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
MAY 11, 1981
4:00 P.M.
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commission Meeting
Room, City -County Building, on Monday, May 11, 1981, at four o'clock p.m.
There were present:
Mayor Merle A. Hodges, Chairman presiding
Commissioner John F. Burgess
Commissioner Keith G. Duckers
Commissioner Karen M. Graves
Commissioner Charles M. Roth
comprising a quorum of the Board, also present:
D. L. Harrison, City Clerk
Rufus L. Nye, City Manager
Absent:
L. 0. Bengtson, City Attorney

CITIZEN FORUM
AWARDS - PROCLAMATIONS
(4.1) The Mayor proclaimed the Week of May 11 through 17, 1981 - "SALVATION
ARMY WEEK". The proclamation was read by Captain Robert Boone.
(4.2) The Mayor proclaimed the Week of May 10 through 16, 1981 - "POLICE
WEEK". The proclamation was read by Commissioner John F. Burgess.
(4.3) The Mayor proclaimed Saturday, May 23, 1981 - "ANNUAL POPPY DAY". The
proclamation was read by Mrs. Thomas Shotwell.

PUBLIC HEARINGS AND ITEMS SCHEDULED FOR A CERTAIN TIME
CONSENT AGENDA
(6.1) Approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting May 4, 1981.

items on consent agenda be approved. Aye: (5). Nay: (0). Motion adopted.
DEVELOPMENT BUSINESS

ADMINISTRATION
(8.1) Second Reading Ordinance Number 81-8849 - providing for the vacation of
a portion of Decatur Street (requested in Petition Number 3810, filed by Jay
Alley.)
81-116 Moved by Commissioner Graves, seconded by Commissioner Duckers that
Ordinance Number 81-8849, providing for the vacation of a portion of Decatur
Street, be adopted. Aye: Burgess, Duckers, Graves, Roth, Hodges (5). Nay: (0).
Motion adopted.

(8.2) Resolution Number 81-3544 - determining that it is advisable necessary
to offer to sell certain real estate to the United States Postal Service and
authorizing the Mayor to execute such documents as may be necessary.
81-117 Moved by Commissioner Graves, seconded by Commissioner Roth to recess
into executive session to discuss Resolution Number 81-3544 for 10 minutes.
The Commission recessed at 4:10 p.m. and reconvened at 4:37 P.M.
81-118 Moved by Commissioner Duckers, seconded by Commissioner Graves, that
Resolution Number 81-3544, determining that it is advisable and necessary to
,offer to sell certain real estate to the United States Postal Service and
authorizing the Mayor to execute such documents as may be necessary, be adopted.
Aye: (5). Nay: (0). Motion adopted.
81-119 Moved by Commissioner Duckers, seconded by Commissioner Graves that the
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners be adjourned. Aye: (5). Nay: (0).
Motion adopted. The meeting adjourned at 4:40 P.M.
