REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commission Meeting
Room, City -County Building, on Monday, August 22, 1983, at four o'clock p.m.
There were present:

AWARDS - PROCLAMATIONS
The Mayor proclaimed August 26, 27, 28, 1983 - "SMOKY HILL - SCHILLING
DAYS". The proclamation was read by James L. Geisendorf, Co-chairman of the
Chamber of Commerce committee.

PUBLIC HEARINGS AND ITEMS SCHEDULED FOR A CERTAIN TIME
CONSENT AGENDA
(6.1) Approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting August 15, 1983.
(6.2) Resolution Number 83-3659, authorizing and ordering certain curbing,
guttering, paving and grading improvements, ordering preparation of plans and
specifications, and the estimate of costs. [Engineering Project 83-707 on North
Third, East Otis, and East Harsh]
(6.3) Petition Number 3856 - filed by Cal Miller, Jr. to leave Fifth street
parallel parking from Crawford Street to Republic Street, as is.
(6.4) Cereal malt beverage license applications filed by:
1. H. Kay Laessig, d/b/a Stop and Shop, 220 West Crawford.
2. Donald E. Larson, d/b/a The Ritz, 1012 North Broadway.
3. Euaawll L. Hutton, d/b/a Easy Gas, 552 North Broadway.
(6.5) The City Engineer files plans and specifications for bituminous
overlay and machine laid seal street improvements. [Engineering Project
83-708]. Set the date of September 8, 1983 to receive bids.

(8.1) Second Reading Ordinance Number 83-8969 - providing for the adoption
and appropriation, by fund, of the budget of the City of Salina for the year
beginning January 1, 1984.
83-149 Moved by Commissioner Hodges, seconded by Commissioner Bonilla that
Ordinance Number 83-8969, providing for the adoption and appropriation, by fund,
of the budget of the City of Salina for the year beginning January 1, 1984; and
appropriating money from the various funds to pay payrolls and claims against
the City of Salina for the calendar year 1984, be adopted. Aye: Bonilla,
Hodges, Ritter, Burgess (4). Nay: (0). Commissioner Roth absent. Motion
adopted.
(8.2) Second Reading Ordinance Number 83-8970 - providing that canopies over
gasoline pumps could extend into the front yard setback; amending Sections
42-270, 42-285, 42-320, 42-335, 42-365, 42-385 of the Salina Code, and repealing
the existing sections. [Zoning Application 83-4, filed by the Board of Zoning
Appeals]
83-150 Moved by Commissioner Ritter, seconded by Commisasioner Bonilla that
Ordinance Number 83-8970, providing that canopies over gasoline pumps could
extend into the front yard setback; amending Sections 42-270, 42-285, 42-320,
42-335, 42-365, 42-385 of the Salina Code, and repealing the existing sections,

September 12, 1983 be set for public hearing. Aye: (4). Nay: (0). Motion
adopted.

the Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners be adjourned. Aye: (4). Nay:
(0). Motion adopted. The meeting adjourned at 4:09 p.m.
