REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
JANUARY 3, 1983
4:00 p.m.
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commissioners Room,
City -County Building, on Monday, January 3, 1983, at four o'clock p.m.
There were present:
Mayor Keith G. Duckers, Chairman presiding
Commissioner John F. Burgess
Commissioner Charles B. Roth
comprising a quorum of the Board, also present:

D. L. Harrison, City Clerk
Rufus L. Nye, City Manager

PUBLIC HEARINGS AND ITEMS SCHEDULED FOR A CERTAIN TIME

CONSENT AGENDA
(6.1) Approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting December 20, 1982.
(6.2) Petition Number 3844 - filed by Gary Ward, for the vacation of the
East 10' of street right-of-way on North Seventh Street, adjacent to Lots 3, 4,
5, 6, 7, Block 9, Calkins Addition.
(6.3) City Engineer files plans and specifications on Engineering Project
82-698 for roof improvements on Fire Stations 1 and 2. Set the date of
January 20, 1983 to receive bids.
(6.4) Set the date of January 20, 1983 to receive bids for the sale of
excess city property. (East side of Broadway Boulevard, between Walnut Street
and University Place.)
83-1 Moved by Commissioner Burgess, seconded by Commissioner Roth that all
items on the Consent Agenda be approved. Aye: (3). Nay: (0). Motion adopted.

ADMINISTRATION
(8,1) Second Reading Ordinance Number 82-8944 - providing for the rezoning
of Lots 1 through 8, Block 9, Belmont Addition. (Requested in Zoning
Application 82-11, filed by Wally Storey, Jr.)
83-2 Moved by Commissioner Roth, seconded by Commissioner Burgess that
Ordinance 82-8944, providing for the amendment of Ordinance 8526, the same being
Chapter 36 of the Salina Code, and the Zoning District Map of therein and
thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the
city and prescribing the proper uses thereof, be adopted.
Greg Bengtson, Attorney for the applicant, requested this ordinance be
tabled until all Commissioners are present.
83-3 Moved by Commissioner Burgess, seconded by Commissioner Roth that
Ordinance Number 82-8944 be tabled until January 10, 1983. Aye: (3). Nay: (0).
Motion adopted.
(8.2) Second Reading Ordinance Number 82-8944 - providing for the rezoning
of Lots 18 and 18, Block 13, Oakdale Addition. (Requested in Zoning Application
82-14, filed by Greg Bengtson.)
83-4 Moved by Commissioner Burgess, seconded by Commissioner Roth that
Ordinance Number 82-8952, providing for the amendment of Ordinance 8526, the
same being Chapter 36 of the Salina Code, and the Zoning District Map therein
and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within
the city and prescribing the proper uses thereof, be adopted. Aye: Burgess,
Roth, Duckers (3). Nay: (0). Motion adopted.
OTHER BUSINESS
Hal Kane, Chairman of Crimestoppers, thanked the City Commission for
making this program possible. He said it has been very successful, but they
need more publicity and asked the City Commission to allow bumper stickers to be
placed on city vehicles. The Mayor and Commissioners agreed and told Mr. Kane
to get with the City Manager, Mr. Nye.
83-5 Moved by Commissioner Roth, seconded by Commissioner Burgess that the
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners be adjourned. Aye: (3). Nay:
(0). Motion adopted. The meeting adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
