REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
May 24, 1982

The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commission Meeting
Room, City -County Building, on Monday, May 24, 1982, at four o'clock p.m.
There were present:
Mayor Keith G. Duckers, Chairman presiding
Commissioner John F. Burgess
Commissioner Karen M. Graves
Commissioner Merle A. Hodges
Commissioner Charles B. Roth
comprising a quorum of the Board, also present:
L. 0. Bengtson, City Attorney
Rufus L. Nye, City Manager
Jacqueline Shiever, Acting City Clerk
Absent:
D. L. Harrison, City Clerk

CITIZEN FORUM
AWARDS - PROCLAMATIONS
(4.1) The Mayor proclaimed that the City of Salina gratefully accepts the
first motorcar produced by Piper Automobile Company which has been named "The
Spirit of Salina". The proclamation was read by William Piper, Owner of the
Piper Automobile Company.
(4.2) The Mayor read a proclamation expressing gratitude and appreciation to
Earl VanCleef for his active participation in the Salina Municipal Band for 50
years.
(4.3) The Mayor proclaimed the Week of May 24, 1982 - "K F R M WEEK". The
proclamation was read by Commissioner Karen M. Graves.

(8.1) Salina Area Chamber of Commerce and Greater Downtown Association to
present some recommendations for their consideration and implementation.
Mr. Bud Jilka, Salina Area Chamber of Commerce representative read the
8 recommendations made by the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce and Greater Downton
Association.

Chamber of Commerce proposal be referred to staff for consideration and a
recommendation. Aye: (5). Nay: (0). Motion adopted.

Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners be adjourned. Aye: (5)• Nay: (0).
Motion adopted. The meeting adjourned at 4:33 p.m.
