REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
FEBRUARY 1, 1982

The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commission Meeting
Room, City -County Building, on Monday, February 1, 1982, at four o'clock p.m.
There were present:

comprising a quorum of the Board, also present:

ADMINISTRATION
(8.1) Second Reading Ordinance Number 82-8896 providing for the vacation of
certain alleys between Fourth and Fifth Streets, and Ash and Elm Streets, in the
Original Townsite. (Post Office Site)
82-16 Moved by Commissioner Graves, seconded by Commissioner Duckers, that
Ordinance Number 82-8896, providing for the vacation of certain alleys between
Fourth and Fifth Streets, and Ash and Elm Streets, in the Original Townsite of
the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas, be adopted. Aye: Burgess, Duckers,
Graves, Roth, Hodges (5). Nay: (0). Motion adopted.
(8.2) The City Engineer reported.on the sufficiency of Petition Number 3828
filed by Max Bishop, President of Lakewood Development, Ltd. for the curbing,
guttering, paving, grading and storm sewer on Circle Drive, and sanitary sewer
and water system to serve certain lots in the Replat of Blocks 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8,
Lakewood Addition.
Max Bishop said the property has been sold to Farm Bureau Insurance and
they have started construction of a new office building.
82-17 Moved by Commissioner Roth, seconded by Commissioner Graves that the
City Engineer's report be accepted and that Petition Number 3828 be approved.
Aye: (5). Nay: (0). Motion adopted.'
(8.3) The City Engineer reported on the sufficiency of Petition Number 3829
filed by Lee Haworth, President of Lee Haworth Construction Company, Inc., for
sanitary sewer and water main to serve certain lots in Twin Oaks II Subdivision
and the pavement of Burr Oake Lane from Ohio Street to a point 230 feet west of
the west property line of Redbud Lane, and the required drainage improvements
within Twin Oaks II Subdivision.
Lee Haworth said the improvements are needed for the new Catholic
Church, which is under construction.
82-18 Moved by Commissioner Graves, seconded by Commissioner Duckers that the
City Engineer's report be accepted and that Petition Number 3829 be approved.
Aye: (5). Nay: (0). Motion adopted.
OTHER BUSINESS
The Mayor, with the approval of the City Commissioners, made the
following appointments:
Board of Electrical Examiners
Bob Johnson (Master Electrician), appointed to succeed Karl Gordon for a 2 year
term to July 24, 1983.
John Wickersham (Master Electrician), appointed to succeed Stanley Swander for a
2 year term to July 24, 1983•
Jerry Robertson (Electrical Engineer), reappointed for a 2 year term to July 24,
1983.
Ron Tremblay, (Electrical Inspector), reappointed for a 2 year term to July 24,
1983.
Larry Gagnon, (Electrical Contractor) appointed to succeed Bruce Broce for a 2
year term to July 24, 1983,
Bill Jolly, (Electrical Contractor), reappointed for a 2 year term to July 24,
1983.

Kay Kent, Realtor, appointed to fill the unexpired term of Margy Hall, to June 1,
