8055 Est Board of Zoning AppealCONSOLIDATED-SALINA 1 C 1 j ORDINANCE NUMBER 8055 (Pbblished in The Salina Journal �my 1969) AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS CONSISTING OF SEVEN MEMBERS; AMENDING SECTION 3 OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 6613 AND REPEALING SAID ORIGINAL SECTION. BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance 6613, the same being the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Salina, Kansas, as shown in the appendix of The Salina Code, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Sec. 3. Board of Zoning Appeals. A board of zoning appeals is hereby created. The word "board" when used in this ordinance shall be construed to mean the board of zoning appeals. The board shall consist of seven (7) members to be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Board of Commissioners of the City. All of the members of the board shall be resident taxpayers of the City of which one members shall be a member of the Salina City Planning Commission. Of the members first appointed, three (3) shall serve for a term of one year, two (2) shall serve for terms of two (2) years each, and two (2) shall serve for terms of three (3) years each. Subsequent appointments shall be made for terms of three (3) years each, except when vacancies occur prior to the expiration of a regular term. They shall be filled in the same manner as regular appointments but shall serve only until the expiration of the term in which the vacancy occurred. One of the members first appointed shall be named by the Mayor as chairman, and this member shall serve as chairman for a term of one year. Thereafter the members of the board shall elect, from among their number, a chairman to serve for a term of one year. The Board of Commissioners of the City shall have the power to remove any member of the board for cause after a public hearing. No member shall receive any compensation for his services. The member which (who) is appointed from the Salina City Planning Commission shall be appointed in the same manner as the members of the board. In the event that this member's term on the planning commission shall expire prior to the expiration of his term on the Board of Zoning Appeals, and in the event he is not reappointed to the planning commission, his position on the Board of Zoning Appeals shall become vacant coterminously with the expiration of his appointment to the planning commission.
