AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING NEW SECTION 42-512 PERTAINING TO ELECTRONIC
CHANGEABLE COPY ADVERTISING SIGNS.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of Salina. Kansas:

Section 1. New Section. The Salina Code is amended by adding a section to be numbered 42-512,
which section reads as follows:
Sec. 42-512. Electronic Changeable Copy Advertising Signs.
Advertising signs located within the city limits shall not incorporate any of the following types
of displays: electronic changeable copy signs, digital graphic signs or digital animated signs;
except for advertising signs lawfully constructed and maintained within two hundred (200)
feet of an interstate highway right-of-way.
Section 2. Effective. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and
publication once in the official city newspaper by the following summary:
Ordinance No. 18-10982 Summary
On October 22, 2018, the City Commission passed Ordinance No. 18-10982. The Ordinance
adds Section 42-512 which prohibits the installation of electronic changeable copy advertising
signs within the city limits, except for locations within two hundred (200) feet of interstate
