AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE MORATORIUM ON THE ERECTION,
CONVERSION, OR OPERATION OF ANY NEW ELECTRONIC CHANGEABLE COPY
= ADVERTISING SIGN IN THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS.
° BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:

WHEREAS, on May 7, 2018, the Governing Body adopted Ordinance No. 18-10936, effective
May 11, 2018 which imposed a one hundred twenty (120) day moratorium on the erection and
U operation of new electronic changeable copy advertising signs and the conversion and operation of
existing advertising signs to electronic changeable-copy advertising signs within the city of Salina.
WHEREAS, the Governing Body finds that considerable staff, Planning Commission and
Governing Body efforts have advanced consideration of the matter, however, the public interest
warrants further review and consideration of any needed modification of the City's current sign
regulations relating those matters described above, and
WHEREAS, review of the policy and legal considerations affecting those matters requires an
extension of the moratorium on the erection and operation of new electronic changeable copy
advertising signs and the conversion and operation of existing advertising signs to electronic
changeable-copy advertising signs within the city of Salina; SO NOW, THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of Salina. Kansas:
Section 1. Moratorium Extension. The Governing Body extends through:
Friday, November 2, 2018,
the moratorium on the erection and operation of new electronic changeable copy advertising signs
and the conversion and operation of existing advertising signs to electronic changeable-copy
advertising signs within the city of Salina.
Section 2. Effective. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption
and publication once in the official city newspaper by the following summary:

On August 27, 2018, the City of Salina, Kansas, passed Ordinance No. 18-10968. The
ordinance extends through Friday, November 2, 2018 the current moratorium on new
electronic changeable copy advertising signs or the conversion of existing advertising
signs to electronic changeable copy advertising signs within the City of Salina. A
