Meetings: Monthly. 4. Th Thursday at 4. PM in th~ PJt;s~oU Room of th~
Library. The Board conducts a public meeting each month and schedules a
public hearing in August tor the budget. Agendas at monthly meetings
indudt minutes, Publiç Comments, StafTlntroductiolls, Friends Board
reports, iÌnancial and statistical review, discussion and action items. Policy
changes reqmre 2 votes.

* Completion of Remodeling Project: This construction dominated the year
for slan~ publiç and Board. Work continucd through Novembcr. II produced
signiiìcant improvements that ha\'c been we]} received by library users.

* A ~;taffì'board committee reconsidered the library classiiìcation and salary
ranges prior to budget study. Several changes were made. The Board
approved a 3~'o across the board increase in salary ranges tor all posiíions.
* Technology developments included an upgrade of the :lutomatjon system
server to a DEC Alpha Server. A second server to run a Windows NT
network of information databases was also implemented in 1997. This
expanded the number ofworkstatl0ns on the network t()r staff and puhlic-
More PC's were added or upgraded.
1998
The Board and staff will begin work in our post-constmction era. There are
several small mechanical projects on old equipment to be considered.
Financially, the library is in good condition, with money budgeted for debt.
We will consider beginning a new planning phase tor future developments.
