RESOLUTION NUMBER 18-7523
111 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE NECESSITY AND AUTHORIZING A
SURVEY AND DESCRIPTIONS OF LANDS NECESSARY TO BE CONDEMNED FOR
THE LOCATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A WATER TREATMENT PLANT TO BE
LOCATED GENERALLY AT THE SOUTHEAST QUADRANT OF SOUTH OHIO
2 STREET AND EAST WATER WELL ROAD.
BE IT RESOLVED, by the governing body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. This Commission has previously approved an improvement project to locate and
construct a new water treatment plant to expand and enhance the City's water system; and
Section 2. It is hereby found and determined necessary that certain lands be condemned for
public use in order to undertake such improvement project; and
Section 3. The Commission hereby directs and authorizes its City Manager to cause a
survey and description of such parcels to be undertaken and filed with the City Clerk; to thereafter
prepare and submit to the Commission an ordinance authorizing the exercise of eminent domain
with respect to such parcels; and upon approval of the same by the Commission to cause to be
initiated eminent domain proceedings in the District Court of Saline County, and to undertake all
other necessary actions to complete acquisition of such parcels.
Section 4. This resolution shall be published once in the official City newspaper, The Salina
Journal.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners and signed by the Mayor this 5th day of February,
2018.
