RESOLUTION NUMBER 3311
A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE COUNTY OF SALINE AND THE CITY OF SALINA IN
SALINE COUNTY, KANSAS, PROVIDING FOR THE INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP OF THE JOINT
CITY -COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH; AMENDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 3165 OF THE CITY OF
SALINA WHICH CREATED SAID BOARD.
WHEREAS, the Governing Bodies of Saline County and of the City of
Salina within Saline County, have heretofore created a joint City -County Board
of Health in said County of Saline and City of Salina, State of Kansas, and
WHEREAS, said Governing Bodies now desire to increase to eleven the
number of the members composing said Board and to provide the means for selection
of the eleventh member thereof,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Saline
(County and the City of Salina,'State of Kansas, a quorum of each group being
present and voting at their respective meetings that Section I of the Joint
Board of Health Resolution of the City of Salina of the County of Saline, in the
State of Kansas be amended as follows:
SECTION I. ORGANIZATION OF JOINT CITY -COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH.
That there is hereby created and established in and for the County of
Saline and City of Salina, State of Kansas, a Joint -City -County Board of Health
composed of:
Eleven members to be selected as follows:
(a) Each of the three members of the Board of Commissioners of the
County of Saline shall be members of the joint board during their
term in office as County Commissioners.
(b) The Mayor of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina
shall appoint three members from that body as members of the
joint board, whose term shall be their tenure in office as City
Commissioners or at the pleasure of the Mayor and the City
Commissioners.
(c) The six members from the County and City Board of Commissioners
shall select five additional members for the joint board, as
follows:
1. From a list containing the names of two or more doctors of
medicine practicing within the corporate limits of the
County.of Saline, selected by the Saline County Medical
Society, they shall appoint one member whose term shall
expire July 1, 1979.
2. From a list containing the names of two or more registered
nurses having legal residence in and residing in the corporate
limits of the County of Saline, selected by.the Board of
Directors of the District Nurses' Association of which the
County of Saline is a part, they shall appoint one member
whose term shall expire July 1, 1978.
3. From a list containing the names of two or more dentists,
practicing within the County of Saline, selected by the
Salina Dental Society,..they shall appoint one -member whose
term shall expire July 1, 1979.
4. From a list containing the names of two or more doctors of
veterinary medicine, practicing within the County of Saline,
.selected by Saline County Veterinary Medical Association,
they shall appoint one member whose term shall expire
July 1, 1980.

5. They shall select one member at large, whose term shall
expire July 1, 1977.
6 After the expiration of the initial. term of each of the
above five members, their successors shall be appointed and
serve for a three year term.
This resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its
adoption by the Governing Bodies of the.,County of Saline and the City of Salina,
State of Kansas.
That Resolution Number 3165 of the City of Salina, Kansas, is hereby
repealed.
All other provisions of the Joint Board of Health Resolution ratified
land confirmed as adopted on the 28th day of June, 1955.
Adopted by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas, and
approved by the Mayor this 14th day of March, 1977.
