The Commission has expressed their concern about the present ordinance
related to the appointments to the Convention and Tourism Committee
(Bed Tax Committee). These two concerns have two dimensions:
1. It is felt that since the City is in effect under contract
with the Chamber of Commerce to administer this program
that the Executive Director, Bob Whitworth, should be an
ex officio member of the committeej and
2. The terms of members and their eligibility for reappointment
are ambiguous in the present ordinance.
This ordinance would clarify those matters. The Executive Director of
the Chamber would be ex officio and have full member power, including
voting. . Members' terms would be for four years with no limit on the
number of terms of servicej and, as in the present, the Mayor with the
advice and consent of the Commission would appoint the members.
