AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE TYPE OF BACK WATER VALVE TO BE USED, MODIFYING
SECTION 209 OF THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section I. That The Salina Code is hereby amended by adding a section to be
numbered Section 9-239.1 which section shall read as follows:
"Section 9-239.1. Back Water Valves.
Back water valves shall be gate valves as defined in
Section 210 of the Uniform Plumbing Code. Such valves
shall remain sufficiently open during periods of low
flows to avoid screening of solids and shall not restrict
capacities or cause excessive turbulence during peak loads.
Valve access covers shall be bolted type with gasket and each
valve shall bear the manufacturer's name cast into the body
and cover."
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
