7060 Est Building Code Adv BrdCONSOLIDATED-SALINA 1 J ORDINANCE NUMBER 7060 (Published in The Salina Journal ji-t-n e 3 , 1968) AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A BUILDING CODE ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS, AND PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. There is hereby established a Building Code Advisory Board to act in an advisory capacity to the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, with reference to the Building Codes of the City of Salina. Section 2. The said Building Code Advisory Board shall: (a) Study all uniform codes and local ordinances adopted by the City of Salina, Kansas, with reference to the building industry, both residential and commercial, and make recommendations to the Board of City Commissioners relative to the updating of the building codes of the City. (b) Act in an advisory capacity to the Building Board of Appeals and to the Zoning Board of Appeals. (c) Act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Commissioners on any request for ordinance changes effecting the building codes of the City. Section 3. The said board shall consist of ten members who shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners. Said board shall be composed of one licensed architect, one licensed structural engineer, one attorney, one i realtor, one plumbing contractor, one electrical contractor, one licenses mechanical engineer, one heating and air conditioning contractor, one home building contractor, and one general contractor. The building, plumbing and electrical inspectors of the City of Salina, Kansas, shall be ex officio members. Initial appointments to the board shall be for one, two, and three year terms, and thereafter all appointments shall be for a term of three years. Section 4. The Board shall annually organize and elect a chairman, vice-chairman and secretary from its membership and may adopt such by-laws as may be necessary to accomplish the purposes of the ordinance. Section 5. Members shall serve without compensation from the City for their services as such members, but this limitation shall not preclude a member or its firm from receiving compensation from the City under competitive contracts for services which would be performed for other departments or agencies of the City of Salina.
