07-19-2016 Minutes 1089 The regular monthly meeting of the Salina Public Library Board of Trustees was held at 7:00 a.m. on July 19, 2016, in the Tech Center Meeting Room. The following Board members were present: Mary Shaffer,Karen Bonar, Mary Lemon, David Greiser, Neal Zouzas and Karma DeForest. Others present were Joe McKenzie and Sandra Wilcox MINUTES: David Greiser asked for any changes or additions to the June Board meeting minutes. 16-20 On a motion made by Neal Zouzas and seconded by Mary Lemon it was RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees of the Salina Public Library approves the minutes of the June Board meeting. Motion passed. Pg 1089, 07/19/2016 PUBLIC COMMENTS: None FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: The Friends did not meet this month ACTION: 2017 Budget for Publication Joe spoke to the Board about the proposed 2017 budget and discussion followed. 16-21 On a motion made by Neal Zouzas and seconded by Karma DeForest it was RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees of the Salina Public Library approves the 2017 budget for publication. Motion passed. Pg 1089, 07/19/2016 DISCUSSION: Capital Projects Joe reported to the Board that we have been having leaks in the roof. Wray Roofing was able to find the problem and Cincinnati Insurance has agreed to replace the roof. There has been a change order on the parking lot to pave several other parking slots beside the church. The church will be paying for that change. Wilson and Company is working on the lighting design and Earle's Engineering is working on a drainage plan. Joe showed the carpet sample that has been selected to use when we do the re carpeting in the back room and circulation area. FINANCIAL: We are halfway through the year and we are in line with our budget so far. STATISTICAL REPORT: June is a busy month. Tech as given out over 1500 summer learning packets. 19,479 minutes have been logged into the Moby Max software for summer learning. 1090 LIBRARIAN'S REPORT: Joe discussed the switch to one circulation desk with the Youth Services and Circulation Departments. Both departments were very open minded about the possible switch. He handed out some information to the Board about the possible switch. The CLASS catalog comes out August 2nd. Check out our Facebook page there is a lot of new information. Pokemon Go is also active at the Library. A Sheriff's investigator was here last week wanting information, someone was forging checks using our printer. The Youth Summer Reading Party will be held on July 28th from 2 to 7 at the Bi Center.
