ORDINANCE NO. 7033
AN ORDINANCE CREATING AN AIRPORT ZONING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS, AND DESIGNATING THE CITY PLkNNING COMMIS-
SION TO ACT AS SUCH COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the Airport Zoning Act of the State of Kansas, the
same being K.S.A. 3-701 to 3-713, authorizes any political sub-
division operating an airport to adopt, administer and enforce
airport zoning regulations in order to prevent the creation or
establishment of airport hazards; and,
WHEREAS, the above referred to Airport Zoning Act provides
that prior to the adoption of the initial zoning of any airport
hazard area that the political subdivision shall appoint a
commission to be known as an Airport Zoning Commission to recom-
mend the boundaries of the various zones to be established and
the regulations to be adopted therefor; and
WHEREAS, the said Airport Zoning Act provides that if a
city planning commission exists that it may be appointed as the
Airport Zoning Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF
THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS:
Section 1. That the Salina Code is hereby amended
by adding the following sections, which said sections
shall read as follows:
Section 5-7. Commission Created.
There is hereby created a commission to be known
as the Salina Airport Zoning Commission.
Section 5-8. Number of Commissioners, Qualifi-
cations. The Salina Airport Zoning Commission shall
consist of all of the members of the City Planning
Commission of the City of Salina, Kansas, as created
in accordance with Sec. 27-1 to Sec. 27-12 of the
Salina Code; and that appointment by the Board of
Commissioners to said City Planning Commission shall
automatically constitute appointment to the Salina
Airport Zoning Commission for the same term asro-
vided for in Article 1 of Chapter 27 of the Sal na
Code.

Section 5-9. Duties:
The Salina Airport Zoning Commission herein
created shall have such powers and duties as specified
and provided for in the Airport Zoning Act of the State
of Kansas the same being Article 7, of Chapter 3 of the
Kansas Statutes Annotated and amendments thereto.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be effective from and
after its adoption and publication in the official city paper.
