Proposals For Alcohol and Substance Abuse Programs
The HOTLINE - Crisis, Information & Referral requests the opportunity to be
considered as a recipent for an allocation from the Liquor Tax funds.
The HOTLINE is the only community-wide information and referral service in
Salina, thereby, making 1t pivotal in the process of identifying and intervening when there
is a problem of alcohol and/or substance abuse by providing the most appropriate referral
to assestment, treatment and/or rehabi 11tation service in Sal ina.
The HOTLINE service is free-of-charge and insures confidentiality and
anonymity to the caller, allowing the caller to express the full extend of their personal
stress or crisis without the fear of disclosure. Approximately 20% or 2000 calls during the
past three years to the HOTLINE relate directly or indirectly to the use of alcohol and/or
drugs. In these cases, the HOTLINE has the opportunity to refer to an available treatment
and/or rehabilitation service in the community.
It has been and will be the purpose of the HOTLINE to assist citizens, including
those having difficulty in their lives caused by the misuse of alcohol and/or drugs, in
finding a healthier, happier way of life and general1y improve the quality of their lives and
become contribut ing members of society.
