01-14-1985 Minutes CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS JANUARY 14, 1985 4:00 p.m. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met in the Commission Meeting Room, City-County Building, on Monday, January 14, 1985, at four p.m. There were present: Mayor Charles B. Roth, Chairman presiding Commissioner Fortino B. Bonilla Commissioner John F. Burgess Commissioner Merle A. Hodges Commissioner Joseph M. Ritter comprising a quorum of the Board, also present: L. O. Bengtson, City Attorney D. L. Harrison, City Clerk Rufus L. Nye, City Manager Absent: None CITIZEN FORUM None AWARDS- PROCLAMATIONS None PUBLIC HEARINGS AND ITEMS SCHEDULED FOR A CERTAIN TIME None CONSENT AGENDA (6.1) Approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting January 7, 1985. (6.2) Report on the sufficiency of Petition Number 3888, filed by Charles Stover, for certain sanitary sewer extensions in Meyer Addition, and the filing of a feasibility report. (6.3) Resolution Number 85-3759 authorizing and ordering certain curbing, guttering, paving, grading and water system improvements, ordering preparation of plans and specifications, and the estimate of costs. [Improvements in Meyer Addition requested in Petition Number 3887] (6.4) Petition Number 3889 - filed by Thomas E. Darnell for the vacation of an east-west alley in Wights Addition. (Refer to the City Engineer for a recommendation. ) 85-11 Moved by Commissioner Ritter, seconded by Commissioner Bonilla that all items on the consent agenda be approved. Aye: (5). Nay: (0). Motion adopted. DEVELOPMENT BUSINESS None ADMINISTRATION (8.1) Petition Number 3890 filed by Maryland K. Parker to rename the park north of Carver Center to John H. Parker Jr. Memorial Park. Maryland Parker asked the City Commission to name the park area John H. Parker, Jr. Memorial Park. The young black and white people would appreciate it. 85-12 Moved by Commissioner Burgess, seconded by Commissioner Bonilla that the petition be accepted and that the park area north of Carver Center be named John H. Parker, Jr. Memorial Park. Aye: Bonilla, Burgess, Ritter (3). Nay: Hodges, Roth (2). Motion adopted.
