They sold about 500.00 to their internet seller, and the about 2500.00 at the sale. Last month they sold about $600.00 of books off of their bookshelves . ORIENTATION: Nick Berezovsky -Head of Acquisitions & Cataloging Nick spoke to the Board about his department and what they do. The department places orders and processes materials to go out on the shelves. Mark orders and receives the materials , Nick does the cataloging and Robin and Kay process the books. About 14,000 items are processed per year. They also process donated materials and incoming mail. His department also helps other departments with projects such as the Youth Services picture book project. The department can also pull stats for other departments as needed. DISCUSSION /ACTION Van Graphics- Amy Adams Amy spoke to the Board about the van graphics. She showed the Board a mock up done by Wild side graphics. The Board approved the design and to go ahead with the wrap. -989- FINANCIAL REPORT: We received an appropriation in January. Expenditures totaled about $150,000 in January. The 2012 financial audit is finished. Joe handed those out to Board Members to look over and be prepared for discussion at the next meeting. STATISTICAL REPORT: January is an average to slower month. We are trying to do more outreach so you may see those numbers increase. Information Services fielded quite a few questions in January and the number of adult borrowers seems to be up. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT: Each department is trying to pitch in and do at least 10 minutes of cleaning each day to help keep the library looking nice. We received $3,900 in memorial gifts for John Black. We are looking at using the money for some more photograph art and possibly some mini libraries and some outreach pop up libraries. Mini libraries consist of small containers usually colorfully decorated where people in the neighborhoods can share or borrow books and we would also stock them with some of our donated books. For the Pop Up Libraries we would use our little van and show up at community events for outreach opportunities. Joe spoke to the Board about Zinio. Zinio is a database of online magazines. We could choose up to 150 magazines to be provided online to our patrons. If we decided to use Zinio we would probably reduce some of our printed collection of magazines. We are moving forward with our Boopsie app. It takes about six weeks to develop and set up our app. We will not be including book check out with the app at this time. The cost would be $3,400 per year. We are continuing with the Salina Reads project. The committee meets again tonight to try and narrow the list of which to select the book from. BOARD COMMENTS: Mary Shaffer mentioned the Discover Salina Naturally event to be held April 21st from 12 to 4 . She thought it would be great to have representation from the Library.
