83-8984 Fire Prevention(Published in The Salina Journal per_ 2-3 , 1983) AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT THE CHARGE FOR FIRE PRTECTION ON PROPERTY OUTSIDE OF THE CITY LIMITS BE SET BY RESOLUTION ADOPTE BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS; AMENDING SECTION 14-1 OF THE SALINA CODE AND REPEALING THE EXISTING SECTION. BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas: Section 1. That Section 14-1 of the Salina Code be amended to read as follows: "Section 14-1. Charge for fire protection on property outside the city limits. The annual charge for fire protection furnished by the city for any property located outside the limits of the city, pursuant to K.S.A. 80-1502, shall be periodically determined by resolution adopted by the Board of Commissioners; provided however the compensation shall always be at least sufficient to pay the city for the reasonable use of equipment and for the cost of materials used, salaries and benefits of fire personnel and to enable the city to carry a sufficient amount of insurance to indemnify it for loss or damage to any fire fighting equipment, or injury or damage to persons or property (if the city be actually liable therefor). Sec. 14-1(a). The City Manager is directed and authorized to implement this policy and to negotiate contracts based on this policy and any resolution determining the level of compensation for this service." Section 2. That the existing Section 14-1 of the Salina Code is hereby repealed. Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication in the official city newspaper.
