AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8, ARTICLE 1, DIVISION 1, SECTION
8-12.5.4.1 OF THE SALINA CODE 13Y PROVIDING A LOCAL AMENDMENT TO
SECTION 903.2.7 OF THE 2006 INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE AND REPI+.ALING
EXISTING SECTION 8-12.5.4.1.
13E IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That Section 8-12.5.4.1 of Chapter 8, Article 1, Division I of the Salina Code is
hereby amended as follows:
"Sec. 8-12.5.4.1. Amendment to Section 903.2.7 of the International Building Code.
/Section 903.2.7 and its subsections are hereby amended to read as Jollovi-s: /
903.2.7 Group R. An automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with Section 903).3
shall be provided throughout all buildings with a Group R fire area.
Exception: finless required by some other provision of this code, an automatic sprinkler
system shall not be required in detached Group R-2 buildings having 6 dwelling units or less
where such buildings, do not have basements and are not more than2one story in height, and
provided that such buildings do not exceed 5,000 square feet (372 m`) in area.
903.2.7.1 Group R-1. An automatic sprinkler system shall be provided throughout
buildings with a Group R-1 fire area, including all combustible concealed spaces and attic
spaces.
Section 2. That the existing section 8-12.5.4.1 is hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and alter its adoption
and publication once in the official city newspaper.
