CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS
SPECIAL, MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
January 26, 2011
4:00 p.m.
The Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners was called to order at 4:00 p.m. in Room
107, Citv-County Building. A roll call was taken followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a
moment of silence.
There were present:
Mavor Aaron G. Peck, Presiding Officer
Commissioner Samantha P. Angell
Commissioner Norman Jennings
Commissioner M. Luci Larson
comprising a quorum of the Board, also present:
Jason A. Gage, City Manager
Greg Bengtson, City Attorney
Lieu Ann Elsey, City Clerk

(3.1) Cite Commission vacancy appointment.
Moved by Commissioner Larson, seconded by Commissioner Jennings, to appoint John K.
Vanier 11 to fill the unexpired term of Tom Arpke who has been elected to I louse of
Representatives. Ave: (4). Nay: (0). Motion carried.
(3.2) Request for executive session.
Moved by Commissioner Angell, seconded by Commissioner Jennings, to recess into executive
session for 10 minutes to discuss confidential data relating to the financial affairs and trade
secrets of a corporation for the reason that public discussion of the information would
competitively disadvantage the corporation and reconvene at 4:10 p.m.
The City Commission recessed into executive session at 4:02 p.m. and reconvened at
4:13p.m.
(3.3) Consider an incentive request from Philips Lighting Company,
Jason Gage, City Manager, explained the grant request, funding, and agreement
Doug Satorie, question what the SBDIC was. Mr. Gage responded.
Moved by Commissioner Angell, seconded by Commissioner Larson, to approve the Phillips j
Lighting request. Aye: (4). Nay: (0). Motion carried.
