Report on Petition No. 4033 for the vacation of the dedicated east -west alley on
the South 15 feet of Lot 14, Block 4, Southern Heights Addition.
Background
The petition was submitted by Leon Ashton on March 17, 1992. The alley
right-of-way was dedicated to the City in October, 1955 in exchange for the
vacation of the north portion of the north -south easement. The original
Southern Heights Addition was platted in 1910. This area is located at the
southeast corner of West Crawford and Hancock as shown on the attached sketch.
All of the franchise utility companies have been contacted regarding this
proposed vacation. No utilities currently exist in the right-of-way nor are
any future utilities planned for this area. All utility agencies have consented
to the proposed vacation.
It is staff's opinion that the petition meets all requirements of K.S.A. 12-504
and 12-505, which outline the proper procedure for vacation of public
right-of-way. No protests have been received.

It is recommended that the
