SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR 2 HOUR PARKING RESTRICTION AT 432 SOUTH 5TH
STREET IN FRONT OF THE GALERIE HOUSE.
Attached are copies of a survey made of the parking conditions at the
above described location. The area shaded blue is the Galerie House
at 432 South 5th Street and the green area is Week's parking lot.
The date and hour of the surveillance are shown on the survey sheet.
During the 8 times we checked this area, there were always available
parking spaces on 5th Street within a reasonable walking distance of
the Galerie House.
The Galerie House is the first building north of Weeks parking lot.
We noticed during our study that many of the customers park in the
Week's parking lot. A sign posted.in the yard reads, "Galerie House
Parking" with an arrow pointing to the Week's parking lot.
I talked to Capt. Brown of the Police Department and he said that an
isolated area of this type would be hard to police.

The board of commissioners may by resolution from time
to time regulate, restrict or:prohibit the standing or
.-parking of vehicles on specified streets or portions of
streets or in specified areas. The city manager shall
install and maintain signs or markings giving notice of
such regulations, restrictions and prohibitions, and it
shall be unlawful to violate or fail to comply with any
such sign or marking.
