Ordinance No. 469
An ordinance authorizing, directing and calling a special election in the City of Salina, Kansas for
the purpose of submitting and to submit to the qualified electors of said city for their acceptance or rejection
of a proposition instructing the City Council to borrow money to be expended in the payment for general
improvements in said City and to issue the bonds of said City in payment of such borrowed money and
fixing the time where such special election may be held.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina.
Section 1. That a special election be and the same is hereby ordered to take place in said City of
Salina, Kansas on Tuesday the first day of December A.D. 1885 at which special election there shall be
submitted to the qualified electors of said City for their acceptance or rejection the following proposition
"Shall the City Council of said City of Salina be instructed to borrow the sum of Sixteen Thousand Dollars to
be issued for the purpose of paying for improvements of a general nature in said City, and in payment of
said such borrowed, issue general improvement bonds of said City in the sum of Sixteen Thousand Dollars
payable twenty years after the date of their issue with interest thereon at the rate of six percent per annum
interest payable service annually. Each of said bonds to be of the denomination of One Thousand Dollars
with interest coupons attached."
Section 2. That the Mayor of said City be and is hereby authorized and directed to issue his
proclamation calling such special election which proclamation shall specify the time when such special
election shall be held and the places in each ward where the polls will be open and designate three electors
as judges and two electors as clerks of such special election in each of the wards of the said City and said
proclamation shall also have embodied therein a copy of this ordinance which proclamation shall be
published in the Saline Country Journal ten days and before the holding of said special election and to give
public notice by proclamation of the holding of such special election and the time same will be held, one
copy of which proclamation shall be posted up at each of the places in said City where such special
election is appointed to be held at least ten days before the holding of such special election.
Section 3. That the form of the ballots to be used at said special election shall be "For issuing
general improvement bonds of the City of Salina" and "Against issuing general improvements bonds of the
City of Salina."
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication once in the
Saline County Journal.
