466 Public Entertainmentol 1 w 41 Ordinance No. 466 An ordinance relating to licenses on theatre, opera house, circuses and other public entertainment. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina, Kansas. Section 1. That it shall be unlawful for any theatre, circus, or other show, exhibition or entertainment which an admittance fee is demanded or received to be performed exhibited or held within the corporate limits of the City until a license shall have been processed from the City, permitting the same, and specifying when and where it is to be performed, exhibited or held; provided however, that this section shall not apply to any literary or scientific lecture or entertainment owned organized and controlled in the City of Salina, and provided further that this section shall not apply to any theatre, exhibition or entertainment which is held in an Opera House, theatre or other building or room, which is duly licensed under Section 2 of this ordinance. Section 2. The owner or proprietor of any Opera House, Theatre, or other building or room used for public entertainment or exhibition may procure a license for such Opera House, Theatre or other building or room which license shall apply to and cover all entertainments held in said Opera House, Theatre, or other building or room. Section 3. That no license shall be issued as aforesaid until there has been paid as a tax therefore the sum hereinafter mentioned. For any theatrical performance held within doors, $5.00 for the first day or night and $3.00 per day for each subsequent day or night. For each circus or menagerie, $50.00 per day. For any show exhibitions or entertainment other than a circus, menagerie or theatrical performance, $5.00 per day. For any opera house, theatre, or other building or room used for the purpose of public entertainment, $50.00 per year; but no license shall be issued for any opera house, theatre or other building or room, for less than $25.00. Section 4. Any person performing or producing any theatrical or operatic, or other entertainment, exhibition or show in violation of this ordinance and any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof before the Police Court shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $50.00. Section 5. That ordinance number 273 and 352 be and the same are hereby repealed. Section 6. That this ordinance take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the Saline County Journal. Approved October 19, 1885
