407 Sidewalk ImprovementsO R D I N A TIT C E No. �LO�
An ordinance providing for the construction of a sidewalk on the
south side of Iron Avenue from Front to Fourth Street.
Pe it ordained by the '.Tayor and Councilmen of the city of Salina,
Kansas.
Sec. 1. That the owner of any real estate abutting on the south
side of Iron Avenue betty-een Front and Fourth Streets in the city
of Salina, are hereby required to build' or` cause to be built on or
before the /94_day of July 18'34,a sidewalk in frorit of such real
estate on said street in manner as described in section 2 of this
ordinance and to the satisfaction of the Committee on sidewalks of
said city.
Sec. 2. That the sidewalk herein provided for shall be of even
grade throughout to be determined by the City Engineer and shall
be built e( feet -- s gide of a good quality of
common pine plank two inches thick and spiked with twenty penny
'nails and supported by./rt ,, .ZX inch stringers well lapped
and spiked with twenty penny nails. The stringers shall be laid
13pon flat stones placed at intervals of not more than four feet.
Sec.3. The Committee, c n sidewalks shall as soon as practicabl
after the said /9�July 1884, cause sidewalks to be constructed
between the limits defined in section 1 add•in',the manner specifi-
ed in section 2 of this ordinance in front of all lots and premi-
ses whoes owners shall not have complied ;with the foregoing req;ii•r--,
ments and shall report their proceedings,together with the length
of the side of each lot on which such sidewalk is constrraeted and
the actual expense of the same for each of said lots to the '!iayor
and Council and `Which report shall be filed and Ylreserved by the
city clerk.
Sec.4. The expense of building such sidewalks b. said Committee
shall be assessed against the real estate abutting thereon and
collected as other taxes on such real estate.
Sec.b. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its publication once in the Saline County Journal.
