ORDINANCE NO. IA
An ordinance providing .for the construction of a certain side-
walk in The City of Salina,Kansas._
Be j.t ordained by the mayor and councilmen of the City of Salina,
Kansas:
SECTION I. That the owner or owners of all real estate abutting
on the south side of Ash street from a point one hundred and twen-
ty fibt, east of Third street to Front street be and they are here—
by required to build or cause to be built 9on or before
days after the taking, effect of this ordinance,a sidewalk
in front of4 along the side of said premises on the south side
of Ash street between the Points above named,
in the manner hereinafter specified in this ordinance- and to the
satisfaction of the committee on sidewalks of the city council of
said city. -
SECTION 2. That the sidewalk herein provided for shall be of
even grade throughout,to be determined by the city engineer,and
shall be built six feet wide7f good quality of flagstone or vitri-

SECTION 3. The committee on sidewalks shall as soon as pract-
icable after the expiration of /� days from the taking ef-
feet of this ordinance,cause said walk to be constructed between
the _limits and along the portions of the street hereinbefore set
forth in section one of this ordinance /in front of and along the
side of all lots or parcels of land and premises lying along the
said street,whose owners shall not have complied with the forego-
ing requirements,and shall report their proceedings together with
the length and distance across each lot or parcel of land,upon or
against which such sidp;walk is constructed,and the adtual expense
of the same for each lot or parcel of land, to the mayor and city
c.ouncil,which report shall be filed and preserved by the city cl._erk.
SECTION 4. The expense of building such sidewalk by said com-
mittee shall be assessed against the real estate abutting thereon
and toll Acted as other taxes on said real estat e, in accordance
with -the provisions of the laws of the State of Kansas.
SECTION. 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
'. from and after_ 1 publication once in The Salina Sun.
