An Ordinance regulating the laying and construction, establishing the permanent width, and declating the materials to be used in the con- struction of sidewalks in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing a penalty for violations thereof. y e�i�tQordained by the Mayor &nd Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. That it -shall be the duty of the owner or owners of any �t lot or lots in the City of Salina to construct and lay down any sidewalk that may be ordered by ordinance, in the manner directed by such ordi- nance, within thirty days from the publication bf such ordinance, unless a different time be designated by such ordinance. Sec. 3. That the cost; of ciohstructing such sidewalk shall be assessed against such lot or lots on which such sidewalk shall abut, and shall be certified by the -city clerk to the county clerk to be collected according to law-. Sec. 4. That the width or widths of all sidewalk hereafter laid or constructed within the limits of the City of Salina* shall be of the following dimensions, viz: All sidewalk on Santa Fe avenue, between Ash street and Walnut street, and all sidewalk on Iron avenue, between Fifth v street and Seventh street, in said city, shall be not less than sixteen feet wide; all sidewalk on Iron avenue, between Seventh street and Ninth street, shall be not less than eight feet wide; all sidewalk on Santa *U'e avenue, be een Ash street and the Missouri Pacific Railway right of way crossing said street, and between Walnut street and Guth street, in hLR said cite, and all` sidewalk 'on Iror, avenue.' from Nixth st�~eet' west to the., city limits, shall be not less'tlan six feet wide, and all other sidewa.ik:=llaid,,'down or constructed in sai�> city shall be not less than eiv e t wide- t -h out ed b.ereot• to be not-Tiess`'than s'ix feet-• f dm the lot line; Provided, ho rer, that the Committee on Sidewalks of the- e, city_'counoil. may, in its",iscretionpermit a sidewalk of less than five . * feet in widthAtd bio, la. d in such places as necessity and good judgment o may require. Sec.•r3. That it,shall be unlawful for any person to put down or cause to be put down, wi hin the City of Salina, any sidewalk composed in whole or in part of wo , or any other combustible rpaterial.
