1635 Letting Contract for Improvements(Published in the Salina Evening Journal, October ,1911.) ORDINANCE N0.1635. An Ordinance specifying the material to be used and Letting the con- tract for the paving and excavating. of certain alleys and parts of alleys herein described. Whereas ,'under the provisions of Ordinanc-es numbered 1633 and 1634, the mayor and council decided to pave and excavate the certain alley and part of•alley in said ordinances described; and, Whereas, proposals for doing such work and making.said improvement have been filed with the city clerk, and such.propo.sals examined by th mayor and council.,, and the bid or prosal. of Ringle & Company, a co- partnership consisting of W.H.Ringle and W..H..Kohr, is hereby found and det6rmined to be the most satiffactory proposal for the kind and character of pavement hereinafter designated and selected, and the cost of such improvements under such pmoposal, for the kind and character of pavement so selected and designated, does not exceed the estimate of the cost of the same as heretofore made by the city engineer of said city,, which said estimate and estirltes are now on file with the city clerk; and, Whereas the mayor and council hereby determine that the alley described in Ordinance N0.1633 aforesaid, to -wit: the alley between Santa Fe avenue and Seventh street, from the south.sides of Lots 115 on Seventh street and 116 on Santa Fe avenue to Walnut street be paved with concrete pavement, six inches thick; and that the alley de- scribed in said Ordinance No.1634, to -wit: the alley between Seventh street and Eighth street, from Iron avenue to Walnut street, shall be paved with concrete pavement six inches thick; and -as spe-cified in the city engineer's specifications therefor accepted by said Ordi- nances Nos. 1633 and 1634, and such paving material is hereby selected as the material for said alleys; therefore Be it ordained by the Mayor and. Councilmen of the city of Salina: Section 1. That a contract be and is hereby let to W.H.Ringle and W.H.Kohr, partners as Ringle and Company, for the paving and ex- cavating of the alley between Santa Fe avenue and Seventh street, from the south sides of Lots numbered 115 on Seventh street and 116 on SantL Fe avenue, and the alley between Seventh street and Eighth street, from Iron avenue to Walnut street. with concrete paving. material, at and for the uniform prices of one dollar and 12* cents 01,12}) per square yard for such paving, and 42* cents per cubic yard for such ex- cavating, such prices being less than the estimated cost of such work as heretofore made by the city engineer as. aforesaid. Sec. j. That` such work and. improvement shall:be done in all respects in accordance with the city engineer's specifications theefor for the kind of paving material herein selected and determined upon, and such specifications are Itereby made a part of the contract so awarded, Provided, that the work in this -ordinance provided for may be delayed from time to time and until -spring i.n.c.a.se the weather, in the judgement of.th a city engineer, shall.be such as to cause the postponement of the work.
