Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Salina:
Section 1. The mayor and council hereby determines that CO'-

and the south line of Walnut street, be paved with

material on a five inch concrete base,,
Sec. 2. That a contract for the paving and excavating of said
street between the limits defined in section one hereof be and is hereby

at and for the uniform price of_
dollars per square yard for the square yards of paving actually laid
on said street, including the concrete base therefor„ and for the
excavating necessary to properly construct such paving,

shall be paid at the rate of
per cubic yard for the number of cubic yards of dirt actually removed
from said street, all as computed and measured by the city engineer;
the prices for such paving and excavating so to be paid being less than
the estimated cost thereof heretofore made by the city engineer and now
on._f ile wity the city clerk.
Sec. 3. That such paving and excavating shall be done in accord

ahce with with the specifications of the city engineer for the kind of
paving herein selected, which such specifications are hereby made a
part of this ordinance and the contract hereby awarded.
Sec. 4. The city a #nney is hereby required to prepare a con-
tract for the work and improvement herein provided for to be executed by
the saiaj(",';V `- and by the mayor and clerk on the part of the

such contractor
shall execute to the
city of Salina a
good and
sufficient
bond or bonds,
in such sum or sums
as the mayor and
council
shall determine and as provided in the said sp�ifications, for the
faithful performance of said contract and for �0,-maintenance of such
paving for a period of five years, and shall also execute to the State
of Kansas,
in the
sum of the contract
price hereof,
a bond
to protect
said city
against
liens of mechanics,
laborers and
others,
as provided
bytthe statutes of the State of Kansas.
Sec. 5. This ordinance shaletake effect and be in force from and
after its publicationonbeein the Salina Evening Journal.
