1612 Improve Ninth Street(Published in the Salina Evening Journal July '1911) 9 ) ORDINANCE 912L_ An ordinance specifying the material to be used and letting the contract for the paving and excavating of Ninth street in the city of Salina, Kansas, between the.North line of South street and the South side of the Main Line tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad crossing said Ninth street. Whereas, under the provisions,of Ordinance No.1609, the Mayor and Council decided and determined to pave and excavate and other- wise improve Ninth street in the city of Salina within the limits defined in this^said Ordinance No -1609, and, Whereas, proposals for doing saeh paving, excavating and a im- provement m-provement of said street with the different kinds of street paving have been filed with the city clerk and such proposals have been examined by the Mayor and Council, and the proposal of is hereby found and determined to be the most satiffactor and Y re- sponsible proposal for the kind and character of ibayement,-hereinafter designated and selected by the said Mayor and Council and the cost Of such paving and excavating under such propOsal, for the kind and. character of pavement so selected and`designated, does not exceed the estimate of the cost of the same as heretofore made by the city engineer of said city and now on file with the city clerk; and Whereas, the Mayor and Council hereby determine that said Ninth street, as above defined, shall,be paved with paving material on a concrete foundation five (5) inches in thickness, and as specified in the city engineerrs plans and specifications. therefor Q -c by said Ordinance No.160 9, and such paving material is hereby selected as and for the pavement of said street; therefor Be it ordained b the Y and Councilmen of the city of Salina: - Section 1. That a contract be and is hereby let to for l theg pavin and excavating of Ninth street, in the city of Salina, between the North line of South street and the Sguth side of the track of the Main Line of the Union Pacific Railroad where the same crosses said Ninth street, with ��- aving material on a five (5) inch concrete foundation as specified and described in Ordinance No.1h09, passed and approved June 19,1911, at and for the uniform price of one dollar and cents (16�~ per square yard for the square yardsf,A concrete paving and concrete foundation actually laid on said street; and for the excavating necessary to properly construct such Pavement; shall be paid at the rate of� (33> cents . per cubic yards of dirt actually removed from said street as computed and measured by the city engineer, such prices being less than the estimated cost of such work and improvement hereto for3e made by the city engineer and on file with the city clerk. Sec. 2. That such paving and excavating shall be done in actor* ante with the plans and specifications of the city engineer for the kind of paving herein sele;ted and determined upon, and such specifications and every part thereof are hereby made a part of this ordinance and of the contract hereby awarded. Sec. 3. The city attorney is'hereby instructed to prepare a contract with (4FC' for the work and improvement herein provided for, in accordance with the engineerts said specifications and the said Ordinance numbered 1009, and that the mayor and city-�-�-� execute said contract on behalf of the city.
