1604 Construct City Hall Buildingb (Published in the Salipa�;,Evening Journal April1911) ORDINANCE NO. � An ordinanceroviding for the erection, construction and co letion of a City Hall Building with jail annexe, thereto for the 'City of Salina, Kansas, and betting the contract therefor. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Salina: -- Section 1. That it is necessary, to provide offices for the city officers and for the transaction of the public business of the city, and it is hereby ordered, that a City Hall Building, with jail annex thereto, be built and constructed in the city of Salina, Kansas. Sec. 2. That such City Hall Building shall be built and located on Lots Numbered eighty (80), eighty-two (82), eighty-four (84) and eighty-six (86),, on.:,'ifth street, in said city of Salina. Sec. 3. ''fiat sudh building shall be built and oonstructed in strict conformity to and compliance with the original plans, drawings and specifications, including the amendments thereto and revisions there- of adopted by the mayor and council on the 7th day of April, 1911, all as made and prepared by Wilmarth & Zebbe, architects of the city of Salina, and the directions and instructions that may be given, from time to time, by such architects as the superintendents of such building for and on behalf of said city; and such original plans, drawings and specifica- tions and the amendments thereto and revisions thereof aforesaid are hereby specially referred to and made a part of this ordinance in all respects and particulars as if the same were written out in' full herein. Sec. 4. That a -contract be and is hereby let and awarded to John A. Nelson and Oscar G. Nelson, partners doing business at Salina, Kansas, under the firm name and style of the.Nelson Building company, for the erection, construction and completion of said City Hall Building, with jail annex., thereto, according to the plans, drawings and specifications mentioned and described in section three hereof, at and for the total contract sum or price of Forty-two Thousand five hundred forty-one ($42,541.00) .dollars, which such contract sum or price so proposed to be paid therefor herein is the sum of price at which such Nelson Build- ing company have, by their written proposals of date of April 17, 19111 and now on file with the city clerk, agreed to accept for the erection, construction and completion of said City Hall Building and jail annex thereto, and is hereby found to be a fair and reasonable sum or price for the erection, construction and coinpletion of said City Hall Building with jail annex thereto and is less than the estimated cost or price of said building, uhder the drawings and specifications aforesaid, as made and shown by the written estimate thereof of the city engineer of the city of Salina, now on file with the city clerk of said city. Sec. 5. The city attorney is hereby directed to prepare a contract between said city of Salina and said John A. Nelson and Oscar.Nelson, partners doing business under the firm name.and style of the aNelson Building company, in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance and the said plans, drawings and. specifications aforesaid, and that such contract, when so prepared, shall be executed for and on behalf of said city by the mayor add clerk of said city. Sec. 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal. Passed and approved April 17, 1911. Attest: Mayor. 1 y erk .
